i'll keep an eye on this mate, be good to see what happens with it.

also, let me know when the wheels have been sent. by the way, the tyres are far from budget, hankook ventus prime i believe they are. quite chunky yeah, but they are very decent tyres, far from budget

(i run them on my mk2 turbo also, and they're brilliant).

ah christ, again, that'll be the gf's

cheers matey, just throw it all in if you can.
that ashtray was out of my mates red mk1 by the way, the fake carbon thing is not my cup of tea either, but the previous one was faded and looked even worse to be honest, hence swapping it over.

looks cracking on them wheels mate. the paints really come up well, have you detailed it or just give it a good clean?

im not sure what the fronts are, they're random springs (lower obviously) but the shocks are probably stock, which is why they aren't ideally suited to it. whack the HSD's on and it'll transform it i imagine. dont think the front is/are burst (when the rears went, there was no rebound whatsoever), but they may well be on their way out, as they have such low springs on them.

same here, left mine out on tuesday and had to dig it out. managed to get it in the garage though so tucked it up for sleep for the winter. whoop

tough one matey. you can have all the handling in the world but sometimes you need that extra grunt to get you where you need to go. to be fair, t1r's are royally shite, so some decent cut-slicks would do just fine, would go on your current wheels or on a cheap set of other wheels for track purposes.
with regards to power, you could quite easily build a cheap and reliable turbo kit to bolt on and give you that extra grunt. the kit on my nb is very simple in it's design but fills the void thats missing when naturally aspirated.
with a simple t25 flange manifold, turbos can be sought easily and cheaply (from various nissans etc) and are very cheap to replace if they do go. the fuelling doesnt even need to be that extravagant either, simple air/fuel controller (safc, emanage blue) would do just fine. could probably get it all said and done got about 800quid once you get the manifold sorted.

hahahaha, yeah i dont doubt it. the world is a strange place.

coincidentally, i've considered selling my mk2 rs turbo and have thought about taking a mk1 or cheaper mx5 in px, as i just dont get to use the car. fancy myself an evo but wouldnt mind a cheaper mazda to blap around in for a little while, whilst i decide what i want to do.

anyway, good luck with it chap, have fun.

i used to drive them often back in the day when i worked with SVA testing, but have never owned one, no.

For the amount I drive (i.e i've done circa 3000miles in the past 18months), it would be ideal. I'd like a little more room for trips away also, so don't really mind what it is and simply fancy a change. I'll whack the car up anyway and if i get a cheeky little mk1 n/a or something in px then that would do nicely for the time being.
I dont do enough miles to even justify having a car at all to be fair, but it's just nice to have a change once in a while

on the topic of your motor, whats your thoughts on what has been done with the engine with regards to the new head? does it feel any different than previous?

You're welcome to come take a ride in my turbo mk2 if you'd like mate, it is only 180bhp supposedly but it is very linear. I'll be selling a full jrsc kit soon from a 1.8 mk2 I'm breaking, if that's of any interest.
I personally much prefer turbos as they're easier to understand and when setup right, have no discernable lag.

The hks kit is designed for 0.4bar stock, which equates to approx 184bhp (according to hks pr crap). It feels ample to be honest, any more and it would be lairy in the bends.
Realistically, the turbo would take 1bar all day long (being a t25g), which with new management and injectors would probably see 250bhp+, as it does on S-bodies and other Nissan variants of the same engine capacity.

It does definitely give you a lot more in the way of torque than you could achieve with n/a, if you're ever in the area then give me a shout and you can see for yourself.

ah that was too long ago now, no wonder i didnt remember ^;

not to tempt you or anything, but im putting the supercharger kit up for sale shortly. ;]

for sale thread's just been created, awaiting approval.

removal thread is here - http://www.mx5nutz.c...1&#entry1056719

thought i'd detail the removal as best I can, as the jackson racing instructions are shit (im pretty sure the instructions are for the american market).

full details will be seen in the advert. as you're running a megasquirt (i think?), you wont need to bother with the shitty JR timing/ign module thing or probably even the fuel pump, so the rest would just bolt on, leaving you only having to play with your megasquirt. the engines are pretty much identical, so all brackets etc would be the same.

i've been trying to think about any differences, and there's literally not much else that would be any different at all. the air filter is just on the end of some flexi hose so can be made to go wherever (the mk1 is a slightly different shape back there) and everything else is essentially the same. you've even removed the A/C, so it is now identical to the spec of the car it was removed from - you wouldnt need another belt, as the one supplied would suit your setup (i.e it would loop round the crank, PAS and supercharger pulleys only).

there might be subtle differences (pas pipework maybe??), but I cant really see it being anything critical or contentious, or anything that a little bit of fettling wouldn't sort.

i doubt this helps much with the mod habit, but hey, it would be truly ironic if it made it's way onto my old car
