So thought I would stick up a build thread, well a second one as my first one was wank and the car and I have gone in a completely different direction to that. 12 Months from purchase I think its time to show what's been going on

Right the firm I work for at the moment decided that they where going to give me a bloody big van to drive round it, so it wasn't to long before I got feed up not being able to park it anyway and general being noisy and crap on my 50,000 mile a year journey.

So looking at the generic euro boxes available for weekend run arounds and was thinking bah, I want my 1275 Mini back in one piece. This one;

Then I saw the light and found that MX5's are pretty much at the going rate for shit boxes, so I popped up to Yeovil and picked this little charmer up;

looking good!!

I wish I could mount my airf filter directly to the turbo, I've got heat soak from the manifold/DP and I now can't fit my ultra racing strut brace :(
I could put my strut brace back on now, didn't think of that. Definitely the way to go, AFM-less.
Look at all that space! Good work Alex. Come on we need a video.
I know, I know, I haven't even attempted to start it yet. Just need to get the oil return in place, then technical it could be fired up. Really though I need to finish the exhaust and implement the Megasquirt.

Bit of a weird problem I had which I haven't had chance to look into, went to change the spark plugs to turbo relevant ones. But the old ones where all oily on the tops where the socket meets it. As in oil had gotten in the hole. It was only on 1 & 2.

Maybe I just wipped oil into the hole when I slid the cam cover on, should I be worried?????
I reckon weepy cam cover gasket

Yeah sounds like a sound point, will double check when I get a chance. Trying to keep my greasy fingers off the newly painted cover.

You won't be so jealous of my credit card statement though.

New wheels, woooooooooooooo

They are steel, so extremely heavy and function over form is very much my style. But I really had to have these, at ÂŁ240 a set brand new delivered I couldn't pass it up.

Also I need the ET0 offset for the latest project by a friend of mine...... billeted hubs, already started reverse engineering an original set, as to make some with greater lock and zero effects on geometry when lowered.

Wheels are 15 X 8 ET0, with a 3.5inch dish.

Wow! Only just got round to looking at this. Haven't read it all - I couldn't really be bothered. :p

For saying you're a bit of a nobber, you're car is pretty awesome - can't wait to see those wheels on! I shall also be watching the hub development closely too!

What kind of power are you aiming for Nobber?

Sketchy x

Haha thanks Sketchy, my delivery of build thread is somewhat lacking. 'Here is a Turbo, insert photo' and 'I did a drift, insert photo' is the best I can do. Not a very imaginative person.

Anything above 160 Nobber Powers and I will be happy, only running 320cc's injectors which is the limiting factor. Happy for a lower power yet reliable position.

Don't be scared to run plenty of rubber on those bud, 8j et0 fits fine under the arches
See I haven't run stretch tyre thing before, whats the best. Ideally I want to maximise tyre width, 195/45 is what I was think, really I want 205 wide.

Happy to roll and hammer my arches around.

Like the wheels mate seen the company on Facebook do some decent offsets and big dish :)
Cheers mate, a chap on here told me about them. You know, because Im to good for facebook

195/45 will give good feed back but 205 better. But with 205, if your running lowish you may need some arch work yes. Saying that I'm running 205 on a 9j et0 with just a small role

Nothing too productive this weekend, busy helping a fellow nutzer on Saturday and I'm waiting for a clear weekend to fab my exhaust up.

Nonetheless my injectors came back from Autotronix Developments, they went away filthy and I was doubting their capability, but they were actually flowing rather well.

Being 320cc they are somewhat limiting now im running Megasquirt MS1, but its a start and will allow me to upgrade diff and clutch before winding the boost up.

Bit of a pain in the arse getting the old ones out that hadn't moved for 22 years, but in the end they are in.

Heat wrapped the brake line seeing as it is so close to the down pipe,

What the fuck is going on with the weather, earlier in the day I was getting withdrawal sysptoms from not having a roof down in the sunshine. Then it rains heavy, which turns to hail, then briefly turned to snow!

15 minutes of it and it builds up to this, feels sorry for the people on the Somerset levels.

Apparently stickers are for children.... so I use permanent pen :D

All in all my list of 'to do' is somewhat getting shorter. Basically build an exhaust system, tap the oil return, then sort the ECU.

Drift day at the end of march, so aiming to get it up and running healthy before then.

Just had a quick skim, sexual! I shuold probably get a build thread of my car up lol.

Also, how much was it to get the injectors cleaned? My unc is having issues with his oil burner and apparently it's injectors so I figured he could send them off for a good clean.

Cheers bud, basically page 1 is all drift photos and stuff, rest it turbo buildness.

ÂŁ45, for cleaning, flow testing, and replacement seals.

Yeah do one, everyone should have one in my eyes.

Just skim read this, looking good!

Where did you get the compressor flange adaptors from.. ebay?

If I were you i'd keep an eye out for a set of rx8 injectors.. boost IS addictive!

also whats the turbo from is that a gtir turbo?

Basically I'm building up a replacement turbo kit for my car built around an s14 t28 an a hks manifold.. hoping to go around the 250 mark! 200 wasn't enough!
