wiring in Headlight retract relay

Hi guys

I pulled the wires out of this the other day... and now need to re-connect.

its the relay that pops up the headlights (i think)

anyone got a diagram to show / or picture on what wires go where?

there are 5 to reconnect into this..

Dunno if it helps any, but I've read that it's wired as On-On (up-down) rather than On-Off. Planning to fit different style switches at some point. Sure I came across this on one of the American forums, and it was in regards to wiring in retro toggle switches for the hazards and headlight pop-up switches.

Following this thread as wiring diagrams would definitely be useful!

That appears to be the same headlight relay as fitted to my '94 1.8. What year of car are you fitting it into?

I had mine out recently as my headlights didn't always pop up on the stalk control (but did on the console button). I changed the little relay inside that unit and it all works fine again.

So anyway, if I can find the wiring colours from my car, is that likely to match yours?

Connector on the bottom has 6 pins in two rows;

R/Y XX XX R/L
W/R R/W B W/B

Where R = red, Y = yellow, L = Blue, W = white B = Black, XX = blank.

B = ground
R/L = power in from HEAD fuse
W/B = wire from stalk control
W/R = power out to console switch
R/Y = power out to popup actuators
R/W = (flash to popup?) wire from main beam headlights

Those are actually Miata wire colours. I'll cross check with Roadster colours but it may take me a while to decode the Japanese.

Anyway, I hope it helps a bit.

<edit> Checked. 1.8 Roadster diagram has the same wire colours.
