Mine was plugged in all the time and always had a small led light on.

They don't draw a lot of power.

Longest period left was two weeks and car was fine.

I'd say it probably draws less power than an alarm when not connected to the phone. (which it will only do when ignition is on).

That will also depend on your OBD port, (and the type of adaptor) and what is active when off. If it doesn't drain on a NC, well, that's good :)

It does drain my MG and it does drain my modern Citroen.

Been using Torque Pro for a year or so. Brilliant app - especially for my troublesome old Peugeot 407 diesel. I've a custom dash setup to monitor scary things like the common rail pressure and boost psi. Brilliant for the paranoid!

I like it enough that I'd quite fancy an Android double din head unit so I can run it like a set of aux gauges. That.. or a Nexus 7 install.

The "track recorder" add on is free by the way - allowing you to record your drive on video with gauges overlaid. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.recorder&hl=en_GB

+1 Want to do the same on my MG to keep an eye on things easier - only with Dash Command. I ahve the track recorder also...pretty handy to have.

DC lets you save (record) all the data and download it to analyse later. I used the data to make some graphs and things.... can't remember if you can do that in Torque Pro!

Another good reason to buy Japanese Mr Hampster sir. :)

What I have remembered is, on the NC, when it was plugged in all the time, the terminals on the OBD port started to get some sort or "corrosion".

Probably/possibly worth checking if it's been plugged in a while.

Yes - have a look in App store they are there. It runs bluetooth connection so doesn't matter what you are using - it's the app that runs it.

You have to buy one (OBD reader) that switches off automatically - some have a little switch on them that shuts it down immediately or after a few minutes of inactivity autosense (ie ign off). They are not much money - maybe ÂŁ10 with power switch, ÂŁ5 without..
Got a link to a decent one that autopowers off?

Will give this a try ;)
