Forgive the stupid question but why do you want to keep the clock spring?

I followed this post and it worked well. http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=140810

Is it self cancelling indicator you are after? If so, it still works although it is slightly misaligned. There is a collar which locates on the boss which controls indicator self cancel, you could simply put a couple of holes in the correct place in the boss to correct the misalingment.

Having said this there is a little noise when I turn my wheel now as my bodge horn wiring moves against the back of the boss so may look into your method. Not sure about wiring but could you not disconnect the clockspring airbag wiring under the dash bridge the airbag pins with a resistor but leave the horn wiring pluged in? From memory it is separate but could be wrong.

No you have removed the clock spring already.

See the post referenced above http://www.mx5nutz.c...howtopic=140810.

The pic isn't great / I can't remember if mine looked exactly like this.

Is it a collar / does it have two lugs on it? Offer up the boss, there should be to indents to match it. I think I had to rotate the collar 90 degrees to get it to line up properly with the boss. The link above will get you up and running.
