Hey Guys,

Horrid feeling, just got my car home after buying it and the boot is sodden with water. Absolute idiot for not checking it.
Are there any common leakage spots in the boot?

Car is a 56 Mx5 2.0 sport.

Any help would be appreciated

Guess the usual as in Mk1/Mk2 check as above and the rear deck plates are tight (the chromed plates between the hood apron and boot lid) and the seals around the rear light units.

And as reported by some owners, if the car has been stood outside for sometime, the boot lid can form condensation on the underside, it has to drip somewhere, just a thought.

If car has been stood for long time the condensation drips from under boot lid onto carpet.

The chrome bolts on the rear deck can leak, just remove them blob of silicone & replace.

Check under seats, that's the worst.

Real design cock up the drains on mx5's

If it's the rear just take it out place on newspaper & walk on it.

Then leave it to dry, not the best time of year for drying

I soaked mine out after vigorously rinsing the hood after cleaning with Renovo

I used a big absorbent towel
Spent an hour pressing it into the low point troughs you can feel through the carpet
Wringing out into a basin, couldn't believe how much I got out.
Once it stopped squelching finished off with a kitchen roll
Then bobbed a fan heater in the footwell, blowing under the seat.
Left it there for a couple of hours, dry as a bone.

Bought a trombone brush and sorted the drains out.

Completely dry since.

Ask Stuart about removing seat, grab door scuff plate & pull up.

This should give you access to under the carpet.

If you need to remove large rear plastic panel, start with wind visor again grab & pull up, next hoop covers etc.
