Hi, wondering if anyone has actually had experience with the above springs on stock dampers (good stock dampers) on a 1.8 nb? Preferably someone who has experienced both makes on the same car, although I think I'm asking a bit much there!

(Don't want to sound rude either, but no need to tell me I should go for a proper set of coilovers, as I know your right, i just can't justify spending a grand on a car that didn't cost too much more than that!)

I expect them to be a bit more harsh, just as long as its not too harsh! But I guess this is just ones opinion also! Thought I'd ask anyway though! Thanks guys...

(Sorry if this has been asked 100 times before, but new people join the forum all the time with different experiences..)

With the NA / NB, the standard bump stop are design to work as a secondary springs.

What that mean is when you lower the car on lowering springs, you will be pounding into that bump stop.

Not the greatest thing for ride quality.

If you want to lower the car, and don't want to spend too much.

I got the MeisterR Sportive coilovers that will be coming back in a few months time (they are in production at the moment).

They don't cost a grand (ÂŁ499), are complete (so you don't reuse any old parts), and works as a complete package.

Just a thought, as a set of Eibach pro-kit approach ÂŁ200, and you still have to reuse your 20 years old top mount and dampers.

OK thanks chaps, the springs are ÂŁ130 delivered, so a fair bit of difference to ÂŁ500, but to get round the bump stop issue I could go for a set of 46mm bump stops to allow more travel, but am finding it difficult to find some being sold anywhere in the UK?

I have heard of the Meister r sportive coils, didn't realise they we're ÂŁ500, so that's positive. I have owned cheap coilovers before and thought they sucked pretty bad IMO.
Not saying Meister's are cheap quality.

I'd be interested in knowing peoples opinions on the Meister r sportive vs stock comfort, or Meister r sportive vs stock shocks with tein/eibach lowering springs and lower bump stops? If there is anyone who has tried both?
(Probably not though as the Meister rs have only been available for a few months it seems)

Am I right in thinking that the Meister r sportive have no damping adjustment?

And do you have a likely date that you are expecting more stock? Are we talking a couple of months, or a few months that will turn into 6 months? Thanks again!...

I have the eibachs on my nb and was pleasantly surprised by them, the ride is better than I expected, transformed the handling, however they are shown up by a bumpy road and they don't lower the car enough, especially at the rear.

Upgrading to meisters in the spring once I have my new wheels and tyres on the car.

Correct, the MeisterR Sportive are design to be an out of the box, fit straight onto the car, sport suspension.

New aluminium top mount installed, ready to fit.

Sportive Ride height is optimised at 310mm front, 320mm rear, and you get about 1/2 inch adjustment up or down.

Damping is fixed, it is sporty but not bone shattering hard.

We expect the delivery in March, it is in production so it won't be a 6 months wait.

Bump stop is about 35mm long.

The new batch have some adjustment as the original batch came out of the box a little lower than the targeted 310mm front, 320mm rear ride height.

So front and rear damper have some revision, and the rear damper have a little incase in damper travel as there are more room.
