Random question,,Who can answer this one?, I have noticed on various sections of motorways and clump of bright yellow daffs growing, these have been spotted on deserted sections of motorways between junctions and no other plants are growing.
So who plants them, where do they come from? as they have defo not been planted by the highways agency or doubt by maintenance crews as all they do is sit in the lorry with the beacons flashing and feet up on the dash.

Dunno about the daffodils, but a few years back I used to go up and down the newly upgraded A46. I noticed that once they'd dug out the espace for the road and laid tarmac, that they'd plated a whole load of saplings down on the embankments.

Obviously there's some greenie working for the highways agency.

Those saplings were probably carefully chosen so they'd grow into trees that provide good sound absorption, not too big so they don't loom over the road and don't produce great wads of slippery autumn leaves that make the road treacherous.

It might well be that the Highways Agency do plant some initial daff bulbs on embankments, and the daffs spread by themselves into great clusters over a few years.

It`s a Welsh thing see? I often have a big bag of daff bulbs in the boot and wherever I stop to empty my bowels I tend to pop a few bulbs in while it is still steaming as a little reminder of all those places that I have `visited` up and down the country

There`s lovely, glad you enjoy seeing them all
