So thought I would stick up a build thread, well a second one as my first one was wank and the car and I have gone in a completely different direction to that. 12 Months from purchase I think its time to show what's been going on

Right the firm I work for at the moment decided that they where going to give me a bloody big van to drive round it, so it wasn't to long before I got feed up not being able to park it anyway and general being noisy and crap on my 50,000 mile a year journey.

So looking at the generic euro boxes available for weekend run arounds and was thinking bah, I want my 1275 Mini back in one piece. This one;

Then I saw the light and found that MX5's are pretty much at the going rate for shit boxes, so I popped up to Yeovil and picked this little charmer up;

Right then

What have I broken?

Can it be fixed by a ginger ape? Or does it need to go off the Scuzzle or alike? I do have a soldering iron, but it still unopened in the box.

Excluding my above faliure, to which happened because the "Diablo" immobiliser had a earth cable which was fixed to the back of ECU cover plate, that I didn't realise. It wasn't a bad day.

Following this thread here http://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=1311&page=4, I think I have wired my TPS correctly???

Fitted my old GV lip back on, I feel off a track back in November and I managed to run it over :doh:

Have you managed to get your ECU fixed yet? Did you use that .ini file I sent you? as I don't think that map will work with your ECU.

I should have been more clear, you should remove the settings off the map I sent and plug them into your map and off you go!

as said early you have to scale the req fuel for you injector size.

...my t28 build is a runner now and absolutly flies after a few adjustments to the original map :whistle:

Iv got a friend currently replacing diode D10, so should be good for the weekend.

I tried uploading it and it through some error codes, I believe some relating to your map being MS2 and mine being MS1?????? Should of print screened it.

Ruddy hell, wish I knew what I was doing. I want mine to fly :( .

Woooo Megasquirt is fixed, my mate Ash kindly soldered in a new D10.

Started her up quickly and she ran, cant remember what map is on there and what condition it is. None the less welded up a little patch for MOT, so the car can come back down off the stands now, first time since Christmas.

Got my AEM wideband, need to figure out how that goes in then its onto tuning.

Stuck my temporary boost gauge in, until I find one I prefer.

People seem to rave about the master cylinder brake stoppers, so adapted my JDM strut brace into one.

Also made a longer handle for my hydro handbrake, which is currently drying.

All in all turbo building is coming to close, ready for turbo tuning :D

Ta da, another good day in the sun. Plenty of boxes ticked.

One home made roll cage re-painted, the previous glow in the dark paint was pretty cool, but rust had been coming through it as I painted bare tube, so out came the Hammerite.

Made myself a new handbrake lever out of a set of MTB handle bars and grips.

Comparison to the old handle;

Got carried away with the Hammerite and painted my strut brace come master cylinder stop, also time for some completed engine bays photos.

Also seeing as the cage is back in, the car can finally come back down to earth. Haven't seen her like this for 3 months now.

So literally all that's left to do is;

- Tuning

- Wideband install

- Get some rubber on those new wheels.

Just noticed on the first page you went to a drift day at Smeatharpe. I'm from there originally, my mate's family own the farm land and airfield so used to take my car on there all the time. Best was when it was snowy and we had free reign to slide about all over the place :)

Good improvisation using the bike handlebar :lol:
Would love to be able to have free reign of Smeatharpe, great place so much fun you can have with a bit of open space. Would love to have grown up there, shame its so constricted on use.

The hydro looks awesome with the mtb bars, looks like your almost there! :)
Cheers bud they are a set of Atomlab general issue bars from about 2006. Cut down to some ridiculous 550mm from my teenage riding days, so way to small now. Made good use of them though.

Was boring growing up there as there's hardly anything to do :lol:

Mind you, back in the day you could really easily break in to the banger stadium, and there was a motocross track next to that, so we used to go up there with our bicycles and mess about. The airfield only came good when we got our driving licenses lol.

Some couple who are barely ever there complained about the noise from the car events that the owners of the airfield started to put on, so they're only allowed a maximum of about 10 events a year now. Ridiculous really, none of the residents who are there all the time really care about it, you can hear the cars but only if the wind is blowing towards the village and it isn't intrusive. Some people are just miserable and don't like other people having fun.

Yeah I suppose, better than nothing I guess.

That very much seems the way of tracks now, noise complaints become the killer. Thing is its so flat up there it can be pretty easy for the noise to travel, the noisiest was definitely the motorbikes when I was last up there. Could hear them for miles.

Shame really, as there is nowhere to drift down here and its only 4 times a year at Smeatharpe.
