Cant help with the 1.8 but my 1.6 was 120kg including starter/alternator and inlet manifold but not including the exhaust manifold.

no idea about 1.8 but mk1 1.6 import with exhaust manifold aswell came in at 130kg.

I want to forge an engine next year somewhere. I wanna put all the facts together to make sure im making the right engine choice haha.

 

Here in the netherlands all 1.6 na ones have 950kg on paper and the 1.8s have 1040 was wondering if it came from the engine or more like things such as abs and aircon brakes strut braces. Its probably a little bit if all of these and i cant imagine a fully set 1.8 is more than 20kg heavier than a 1.6 both with aircon... i read that the 1.8 physicaly is a littlebit longer and therefore i assume its also a littlebit heavier. Dofference is probably insignificant though

Surprisingly there is!

I don't know the figures but the 1.8 is significantly heavier - I would say there is approx. 10kg in the assembled cylinder head of each engine.

Very interesting use full question. Free bump for more answers. I have a fresh complete 1.8 in the garage just no way of weighing it.

 

The 1.8 is a longer engine, we know this from the inlet/exhaust manifold
This must result in it being heavier.
