Hi all

Well, I'm back in the MX5 fold about 10 yrs after owning my last Mk1. Last Thursday I bought a Mk1 RS Ltd from Painter Dave. I've named the car

'Ecstacy' after the last three letter of the reg plate. I had been looking for a track oriented Mk1 for a few weeks and this ticked most of my boxes. As a bonus it still has the original carbon/kevlar bucket seats and BBS wheels.

Mileage is about 59k, there is no rust on it (sills had been previously repairs to a good standard) and there are a few aftermarket bits on it such as Maxim manifold, AutoExe coilovers, TR Lane harness bar and Scroth harnesses, Carbing roll bar, stainless exhaust with decat, Apexi induction, OEM front lip. Lovely!!

Before I picked her up I asked Rodders to put 4x new Federals on and sort out the suspension set up and wheel geo. I also got a mate of Painter Dave's to repair the driver's side seat bolster - and he did a fantastic job. I honestly don't think you'd know it wasn't OEM unless you were told (will post before and after pics when I take the after pic).

The paintwork has a couple of dings and a couple of scratches but nothing major. As the car is essentially a road legal track car

, I'm not going to worry about the paint for the time being. Anyway, enough of me, here's some pics (courtesy of the previous owner).

Over the next month or so I'm going to sort out a few minor niggles such as small fluid leaks from seals, new wing mirror glass, missing vent tube, missing fuel line protection panel. Mods I'm thinking about include cold air feed/TSIs, 14 degree timing advance, de-badge and I may add some more chrome touches to the interior.

All being well, I'm hoping to get to the Blyton track day on 29 Jan.

Little update over the last month or so.

Have plumbed in some TSIs, sorted out some minor leaks (diff oil, clutch fluid, PAS fluid), changed the side indicators and reflectors for clear ones and swapped the door mirrors for body coloured ones I picked up from Ebay in Germany as I wasn't a fan of the chrome mirrors. Oh, and I debadged the car and added the missing undertray and boot fuel-line panel.

Will clean the car tomorrow and take some new pics!

Edit: Almost forgot, have also added some TRS tow loops, got the car MOT'd and did an oil/filter change ready for its first track day on Sunday.

Nearside rear shock has gone. I noticed it on track yesterday but it could have gone before that - you can't really tell with normal road use. Can't find anyone who knows about repairing AutoExe coilovers so am going to get a set of Gaz Gold Pros installed by Rodders instead.
