HI,, my 1990 came with a plastic wind blocker that does the job but looks a bit pants. are the little fold down ones that see to be standard on later ones any good? they don't seem very high, and would one fit my car ( if they are any good) thanks.

sorry if this subject has been covered, i did a search and didn't find anything specific to this.

If it's like the one in the link... Yes, they do a pretty good job.

Mine didn't have one when I bought it, so I picked up one for a few reasons

1) To block the wind on cooler days - In warm weather I rather it down

2) For the extra storage space in the net

3) When roof is up I put some light things behind it if need be & it stops it falling into the front.

We have some for sale in black or cream colours

This is a 'must have' accessory in a MK1 for me, every MK2 had one so they're plentiful and cheap enough (around ÂŁ40).

They do work well (as long as you're not 7'6'') and with the windows up keep the warm air from the heater circulating around the cabin, also you don't get such a rush of cold air from behind, in-between the seats when going 60+Mph.

They just bolt straight on in 5 mins using fixings there already, you can drill/screw extra holes if you like but really there's no need.

I have a black oem mk2 one that I'm about to advertise if interested. As above they work brilliantly

You can get OEM ones with speakers in too if that is something that interests you. Personally I didn't bother. They do cost a bit more though

Yeah, they are great. I second everything robinm said. plus you have that net for storage.

I however started off with a standard windblocker, then upgraded about a week ago to the on with the speakers in it. Its a great addition given my headrest speakers didn't work. the radio is a lot clearer and much more full. for about ÂŁ20/30 extra I think its worth it. Although I picked mine up on ebay for ÂŁ27 posted and sold my old windblock for ÂŁ39 posted. :p

Apologies if this is a bit of a thread high jack, but I too have been looking at one those particular wind blockers.

The only thing putting me off is not understanding where/how it will fit on with chrome style hoops.? The style hoops bolt on the seatbelt towers, but where does this fit on?

same points. I actually had the standard windblocker fitted with my mx5 parts hoops, it was a struggle but they will go.

However, the ones with speakers in them wont go with the hoops so i've had to lose them.

Huh?? I didn't have to pay VAT? Also didn't have to pay for the bubble wrap...

EDIT: wait JYD, you do understand that I won this? I wasn't selling it.

Are MyHerpes any good? :D

The lady in the post office has said the Royal Mail are having to slash the prices of larger items as they've priced themselves right out of the market.

Conversation went like this:

Me: ''This rolled-up MK1 plastic back window that weighs next to nothing to Cheshire please''

Her: ''The cheapest is ÂŁ10.50''

Me: ''I don't want to buy the post van, I just need someone to take this to the address on here''

Hyhermes are really good actually. Only ever had one issue with them and I have literally sent hundreds of things with them. I always book through parcel2go though and when there is an issue they sort it out for you and their process is great.
