What Sort Of Chassis Number Would An Early Roadster Have?

Just having a look on Clubroadster, and found an article about Roadster number 17, which was restored and sold by Sam Goodwin.
My chassis number begins with 101, then 3 digits after it. Am I right in thinking the first Roadster chassis numbers started at 21, therefore over 100,000 were built before mine? Sounds excessive in a short space of time.....?

This might help you work it out, mine is the 9512th to be made for the uk

Looks like mine was built on 27th July 1989, so an early one. Think I'm right in saying that it is Roadster number 1039 off the production line.
