Just to close the loop, had a look through the manual yesterday evening, found one graphic which showed this area as having an "Aux-In" socket. Presumably this is not used on my car as it has the iPod and USB cabling to the glove box but they use a "one size fits all" loom hence the wiring.
What could go here?
While looking at fitting a head unit I noticed what I had previously thought was just part of the dashboard plastic or possibly a blanking plate sitting between the 12v socket and the heated seat controls, closer examination shows it actually has some wiring attached at the rear, presumably this is for an option which I don't have:
Any body know what it is or would be on a car with this option?
