Why so keen on air-con? That's going to seriously limit your choices of otherwise good cars

Hi All,
I'm interested in a 1.8 litre MK2 MX5 with aircon. They seem to be reasonably thin on the ground. I need to keep it under ?4k really as this is going to be a weekend only toy. Anyone got anything?

Out of idle interest, why do you need it to have aircon - I find the windscreens clear quickly just using the heater/heated screen, even when it's lashing it down with rain outside.
To me aircon would be just useless added weight.

Many moons ago, I had one of the 1st Mk2 VSpec MX5 imports. It was just a nice to have. I suppose it's not a necessity. Does that make one easier to source?
Well there aren't many Mk2 with aircon around that's for sure. It was an expensive option that many didn't take up, however some models such as the red & blue sport specials had it as standard equip.
Or if you're looking at newer 5s then it was standard equip on the Arctic edition
