Yes I watched it a few weeks ago. I thought it was a bit over the top in places but thats probably because I'm a squaddie.

Good overall, but typically American. Then again the American Army are typically OTT it's what they do!!

Having said that it is well worth a watch.
The sniper scene spoiled it for me, Typical 'Everyone else gets taken out and the Americans save the day' Apart from that I thought it was really good, amazing visuals, When they're walking down the road in the suit you really get a feel of how nerve racking it must be. Certainly have to be a bit nuts!
I've worn one of those suits and you certainly can't run that far in it. I was going to go into RLC bomb disposal as an Officer when I was 19. Then my Mother talked me out of it. I still wonder what it would have been like. Glad I didn't go in as a Commissioned Officer though.
Seen it, as Dinky say's, its a bit OTT in places but still worth a watch

is an ok film, not sure how / why it picked up quite so many oscars as it did but it was enjoyable. didn't get the bit about the body bomb, how do they work?
I'm going to go against the grain with this one.

I was bored out of my mind watching this.

It just didn't end, my girlfriend fell asleep, I wanted to leave but we couldn't because the sister's other half continously reminded us of what a great film it was and how many awards it had won.

No doubt a great film to study with good cinematics and an insight into the war but really, I'd rather not have had to endure the torment of watching this.
watched it last week, great film. I found it a little hard to follow at times due to not knowing who is who...
the guys in teh army gear are the army guys, the guys in teh long robes and local clothes and stuff are the locals

Excellent Film - the photography was excellent.
I love'd the sniping scene, just because they use Barrett.
I like'd the whole movie, takes a grip on you and holds all the way. And fact that is directed by lady makes it even better.
didn't get the bit about the body bomb, how do they work?
It's an old technique which was used widely by the VC during the US/Vietnam conflict. Effectively the bodys are rigged with explosives, which can be detonated either remotely, or via pressure switches etc. The body is then left out in the open. The idea is to detonate the explosives when there's a group of people within the immediate vicinity, whether it be paramedics, a patrol etc.

What I did like about the film was it's accuracy, particularly with respect to the secondary devices which are the ones causing the real damage out in Afghan at the moment. Admittedly, the Sniper scene did make my cack hang a little too, although in fairness I did like the fact they were shouting things like 'contact left' etc instead of the usual Yank drivel you normally hear in war films.
