Supercharger Noob Questions

I wanted to fit a merc m90 charger to my mx5 and i was checking out the barries instal for tips.

I saw that there is a valve between the inlet of the charger and the outlet. Is this a bypass valve to allow air round the charger at idle? Does the bmw valve just hook up to the inlet manifolds vacume port and opens above a certain vacume?

If i go dual TB, which tps sensor do i use the one on the tb post or pre charger?

Also do i need to keep the idle control valves on the tb and what tb? or is that what the charger bypass valve does?

Lastly the dual tb setup barry has is one cable to the original tb and then one from that to the other tb? How did you make the adjustable throtle cable or where did you get it made?

Will an M90 fit in the bay? I couldn't get an M62 to fit cold side due to lack of space
All the Merc SC's i've seen come with a solenoid/clutch to activate the SC drive, it's right at the front, could it be this?
Not all, supposedly later ones came without the clutch!
Erm im sorry its a m62 lol!

Indeed mine came with a cluth pulley at some point, but when i got it it didnt have it anymore. The charger has a lot of play in it, and it kept burning clutches. I have got to get it rebuilt before i fit it.

Im going to design my own pulley and get it made.

Any help with my questions?

Some bike shop cable and a nugget, some adjusters and you are away, its pretty simple....
however with MS you unplug the stock TPS..
Since when?

Since it's been unplugged on mine, barry's and blaize's from day one, all 1.6 manual cars.

Blaize has now since fitted a VTPS and mine is in a box waiting to go on.

If you know something we don't then I'd appreciate if you share your thoughts.

The OP has a 1.8, it's only on 1.6 cars where you don't use the TPS, all other years you should plug it in and use it.

A blanket statement that with a MegaSquirt you unplug the TPS is just plain wrong and misleading.

(better idle control and better AE).

Another spanner in the works is that I piggy-back into the vTPS signal on my mk2 1.8. The MS/stock ECU are happy to share the signal.
Ah forget my comment Megator, I just presumed you had a 1.6....

Cheers for clarifying it for me Richy..
Could someone clarify that i have to unplug my tps & leave it unplugged? mines a 1.6. Might have missed something here

Out of interest, where did you get your M62 from? Interested for my installation, but can only find M45 (mini ones) or M90 (merc or similar), so was the M62 on any production cars?

Russell.
I found out its from a SLK, but i wouldnt bother.

I only found some for sale on ebay america for 600-700 dollars from the states.

Thats the cheapest one, its got a different inlet to mine though.

The unit itself is kinda awkward and i dont even know if it fits. I will need to machine the unit and get a pulley made up and all sorts.

I got mine for free from a mate and it needs a rebuild, (im hoping Mr fast is still around as he gave me a quote on the rebuild). Im hoping to get a lot of bits made myself or pretty cheap.

I am in my 3rd year of uni and this is my summer project once the years over but for now time it tight.

I want to fit it get the car to 200 bhp drive it like that for a while and then turbo it so if you can wait a year gimmie a call!

Why would someone want to fit a charger for a year and then turbo it, get real... to do either properly cost considerable money. Even with funds available you make a choice and you go with it.
