My Mk1 definitely needs new springs - I have at least one which looks broken. Have thought about Gaz coliovers. However have also read that standard shocks/springs make the car drive as it was designed. I do not do track days or any motorsport.
If I fit standard shocks and springs do I need a spring compressor?
I have fitted shocks to a VW Jetta many years ago so do appreciate that spring compressors might be necessary for safety.
Thoughs also on the stiffer spring packages offered by MX5 Parts?
Saly I just missed their 10% off weekend - unless I order sharpish.

No you don't need a spring compressor. Infact most spring compressors available through retail outlets don't fit the tiny MX-5 springs properly anyway.
You can just take the slack up with the trolley jack, remove the lower arm bolt and then slowly lower the jack down, much easier and much quicker.
