Restoration

I have a 1992 MX-5 that I have had for years. It is now getting a bit tired and needs a re spray, some small dents fixed, new roof, new wheels, new shocks, springs and I would like the engine stripped down and rebuilt. I don?t have the time to do this myself and I?m looking for a company that could restore the car. I have seen lots of adverts, however I was wondering if anyone had firsthand experience of using one of these companies.

Any suggestion or feedback would be much appreciated.

station body shop in fareham is my place of choice for bodywork restorations.

I don't mean to be funny, but its probably not worth doing unless its got very low mileage and you want to enter concours competitions or something?

You could probably sell it for about ?1000, and you could buy an absolutely stunning Mk1 1.6 for about ?2000.

If you wanted to get it restored, the bodywork alone is likely to come to over ?1000 if you get it done properly...roof is about ?300 fitted (for a basic one, ?500 if you want mohair and heated rear screen), an engine rebuild will cost ?500 upwards, wheels ?300, shocks ?300-?800 etc... I know how easy it is to get attached to cars (I have 5 or 6 on my drive because I seem unable to sell any!!), but if you look into the costs it won't add up!!
