Removing Dash 'Shine'?

Can anyone recommend a way of removing the years of horrible high gloss dash protectorant that have been applied to my dash? I use Aerospace303 for its extremely low gloss properties. It has always kept my other cars looking 'as new'. Unfortunately my Roadster has suffered at the hands of previous owners appyling gloss products (they may as well have rubbed massage oil into it it was so greasy - taking car love to extremes)

I want to get it back to a matt finish then treat it with aerospace303.

I've already tried hand degreasing wipes but these seemed to have limited affect. Its better but you can still feel a silicone type residue on the plastic surface and its still pretty shiny. Slightly reticicent to try anything harsher unless someone has already found it effective.

Is the only option a re-cover?

After reading up on the various APC's people use I just went to the cupboard under the sink and ended up using Fabreeze APC and a firm (but not scratchy) paintbrush! Its worked an absolute treat. The whole interior + rubber mats are now nice and matt and smell nice!

Will order up some Poorboys Natural Look dressing as soon as I get a job - spent my remaining cash on 5 litres of Bilberry Wheel Cleaner instead so I can tackle the underside of my car. In the meantime Aerospace 303 and a good buff should keep it looking good

Now you've got it clean and free of the old polish, try getting a little nail varnish remover or one of those preimpregnated pads and give it a good rub over a bit of the dial cowl or dash. See how much of the crap is still on there.
Will do! Still looks 'dirty' even though it's Matt. So I'll do this before treating with poorboys

Postscript - Remembered today that I had used switch cleaner to great affect on my houses UPVC windows to remove all sorts of sticky crap after a kids party.

I've got a spare dash in the garage and the switch cleaner says its safe for use on all plastics so thought "what the hell" and spray it all over. . . removed loads of crap left behind by the APC clean I'd previously given it and left a lovely mat dash and doorcards for me to treat and buff with Aerospace 303.

Very happy with the result. . .
