Quick Question About Brake Pads

566 Views 10 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Gixer
All of my pads are due replacing and im gonna get either all EBC ultimax, or ultimax on the back and greenstuff on the front, what do people think of the green stuff pads? Worth the extra few quid?

It will just be for road use, with the occasional spirited outburst of course
ive looked at red stuff which looks like they take far too long to bed in, and yellow stuff just looks like overkill.

Forget greenstuff. Too many stories about them falling apart. Go for the yellows, good bite from cold,& they dont fade.
another vote against greens. yellows arent as impractical as you make it sound.
i am currently using pagid pads to very good use for road driving, swap to yellows for track without a doubt
quick answer. stock genuine mazda pads.

the cheap ebc's are poor.
just put some part worn greenstuff on the front of mine after the mintex 1144's wore out.

shockingly terrible would be my description - instant spongy pedal, need about twice the pedal force to brake and response from cold is poor

the mintex ones are dusty and expensive but woth it imo
so we're saying the yellows are fine for every day use?

gonna go for them on the front and standards on the back i think

This. Mintex 1144's FTW. I used to have them on my Starlet and never once had any fade on track.

I've heard nothing but shit reports from Greenstuff (and I don't really rate their Yellow/Red stuff either, although I've not used either).

Love the yellowstuff on track, find them ok on the road

Sorry is there any reason that you want to have an imbalanced braking system?
If its down to the money, save a few pounds here and spend a shed load more when you have an accident the investigators could look at it and advise that imbalanced brakes caused it
Greenstuff = Shitstuff ( Simples )

I'd stay clear of EBC if I was you regardless to the colour
