My mx5 has always pulled to the left, just got used to it and thought i would take it to wheels in motion as soon as i could.

Today i was changing all the brake pads and noticed that the right front wheel had some play, it is only when i waggle it held at 9 and 3 o'clock, it has no play when held at 12 and 6 o'clock.

Obviously this was when the car was jacked up.

Any ideas as to what needs replacing, it goes for it's MOT next week and i want to get it sorted first.

Also, could this account for the car pulling to the left.

Just to add, when i turn and reverse i here a knocking noise from the front of the car.

Cheers

Reads like the steering arm knuckle has some play in it... It's an easy fix. This has no bearing on the pull since the play would be a variable pull "left/ right", it reads like a geometry issue.

Ok thanks, how do i fix this, what part do i need, take it you do not mean the track rod end?

Also, looking back at the previous garage reports, it has had the tracking done, but the mechanic also put that it need to be seen by a mazda dealer, what could that mean?

Cheers
