Evening,

Thought it was about time to put up some pics of the car seeing as it's been a nice day and I washed it... Who knows I might even keep the thread updated.

I acquired it last year, it's a '94 UK 1.8iS in Japanese Racing Green as a friend has christened it. Looked a bit like this when i got it:

Can't say I was overenthusiastic about the wheels, and it was a bit scruffy round the edges, but it was bought as a bit of a blank canvas so it wasn't the end of the world.

It came with a pretty fruity sounding HKS exhaust which was a bit loud for my liking, but I've since put a bung in and it sounds a bit tamer now so looks like it'll be a keeper.

What I've done so far:

Fitted some 15" Speedlines with T1Rs
New stereo
Stubby aerial
New plates (amazing what a difference a nice new set of plates makes) and ditched the offset plate until it goes into the bodyshop to get the holes filled where the plinth goes
Fitted an OEM front lip (thanks TheDinkyToy
)
Ditched the (horrendous) airbag wheel in place of a slightly dished Sparco
New grey mohair hood from Jack Smiths with glass screen
Elise seats courtesy of Mr S Hill
Jibberingloon tow hooks
Slightly tatty Runabout door mirrors
Probably loads of other odds and ends that I can't remember

Today I dug out the Megs and gave it a good clean, and finally remembered to take some photos...

Future plans are to refurb the Wats sitting in the garage (probably in grey/black), fit the braided brake lines and TR Lane GP bar sitting in the garage, decent set of coilovers, sort the niggly bits on the bodywork and maybe go FI at some point if I can get the funds together...

In two minds about the Elise seats as well, they don't quite sit me far enough back or low enough down for my liking, so new seats are quite probably on the horizon too.

Overall pretty pleased with it now, it's had a slightly shoddy respray at some point, the passenger door has been replaced and the colour doesn't quite match, the sills will need doing this year and the door seals are a bit leaky, but it's all good fun

Those elise seats..can you not make new mounts to get them lower in the car? Ps how do you find the seats comfort wise?

Probably could sort out some new mounts but a) i'm not exactly technically minded when it comes to that kind of thing and b) they're not that comfortable. Planning to go driving across Spain and France in June so kinda need something better sorted by then - if I can't find anything else it's going to be back to the stock seats

Thats a car after my own heart. Love it.
Looks very tidy, seats are ace but I can imagine them being a little unforgiving.

Love the steering wheel, where did you get it?

I love the Elise seats, although these are calling out to me, just a bit out of my price range at the moment
Think I'm going to try and do a 'reverse foamectomy' on them and add some more foam to them if I can find a guide of how to take the covers off them.

Only problem then is the brackets, if the seats were a couple of inches lower they'd be perfect! Think I'm going to have to try and stick out a wanted ad to see if anyone can help out.

The wheel was a lucky eBay find, it's quite an old model (Sparco Chrono I believe) but it's just the right size. Would be nice if it was all alcantara rather than just the top half, but I'm happy with it

Love it, the Sparco wheel looks very cool indeed. That will look lovely once the Wat's go on

car looks really nice, how easy is it to remove the airbag steering wheel, assume you then require a boss to fit a new steering wheel.
Ah my old Mx5 wondered if it was still around
Look's all the better now!

Rich.
