Hey!
MX5 owner for less than a day. The avatar picture is the new 2023 MX5 next to the totaled out Can-Am Spyder it's replacing. My first sports car was a 1959 Austin Healey Sprite (in 1964) and there have been a few others since then. Favorite all time was my '89 BMW 325is, but I also loved my 2 2002 BMWs. I lusted after the Lotus Elan in '65, but never managed to own one. I've always thought of the Miata as a near relative to the Elan so I'm looking forward to the whole experience. The totaled Spyder story is too long to tell here.

Sounds as if we might be of similar vintage when I see your car history! I too lusted after the BMW 2002 while serving in Germany, but couldn't afford it. I envy your Austin Healy Sprite, such a cheeky little car. Still I've had a number of 'interesting' cars including a BSA three wheeler, and a very rare Triumph Gloria Southern Cross, both older than me.
I hope you enjoy your MX5, I'm still trying to get to grips with his my third MX5, hoping it is in better condition than the first two. (I chopped in a twenty year old Boxster 3.2S for my 'new' 6 year old MX5 'Arctic' and it is very different to my first two. I don't like the fact that it doesn't have a traditional glove box relying on storage all behind the driver, nor the fact that the seat doesn't have any vertical height adjustment. Still I'll get over that, watch this space.

Enjoy!

I used spacers under the rear seat mountings with longer bolts, made a difference.

Thanks for your idea, but that only gives me a max of 1.5" before the seat hits the hood frame. I need nearer 3". So I must get to grips with my old 'wedge pillow'. At present I have used my wife's wheelchair cushion. It is perfect at the back of the seat, but far too high at the front, hence the need for a tapered cushion.

Sorry for taking so long to reply, but I'm still finding my way around this forum, and getting lost....🥴
