I was told that the 1.6 NB flywheel and clutch was the same as the ones fitted to a 1.8 NB which on that basis makes it different to the 1.6 NA.

However

5 Parts sell one clutch for 1.6 Mk1/2/2.5 and a different one for 1.8 mk1/2/2.5 which makes it the same.

I do need to know though as I have a 1.8 aftermarket clutch but a 1.6 NB, So I will keep watching this.

 

I thought the clutch and flywheel were different, with the flywheel of a 1.8 being bigger and heavier. I know folk upgrade to the 1.8 but I dont plan to run more then standard power so the standard 1.6 would suffice for me. The engine code is the same for all 1/2/2.5 which make me assume it is the same for all 1.6's in terms of clutch and flywheel.

Just need to be 100% sure before I buy mind.

 

You can fit a 1.6 clutch on any 1.8 if you use a 1.6 flywheel. The 1.8's alignment posts are different. I have a 1.6 clutch and flywheel on my '95 engine.

 

But is the mk1, mk2, and 2.5 1.6 flywheel all the same, or able to fit across the models, seeing they have the same engine?
