Ms Pnp And The St Sign Fuse

4323 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  SuperRetard
In the hypothetical scenario that I was a complete moron and that I forgot that many years ago I pulled the ST SIGN fuse on my 1990 Miata... and I accidentally replaced it during a random fault chasing adventure and tried to start the car...

...what's the damage? How do I fix it? Is it fixable DIY or do I need to ship it off?

As you've probably guessed, this isn't actually hypothetical and I've just done actually done it. It's many years since I installed the PNP and a friend has uninstalled/reinstalled the motor for me and left a whole bunch of electrics not working - I was only trying to eliminate some 'causes'... d'oh!

turn the ignition on but dont start the car, using megatune check your map etc.

I would firstly check that you have actually done some damage first, if you have then you will need answers to those questions

I know they say in big red letters etc "IT WILL DO DAMAGE IF NOT REMOVED" but you may have got lucky, you'll never know until you check

It's damaged the fuel pump driver or something - I've jumped the fuel pump through the diagnostic box. I'm taking a gentle (no booooosts) drive home in her tonight to check the engine install.

DIYautotune responded to my email in 10 minutes flat and quoted $35 to fix the box with a same day turnaround! (I just have to return ship it to the states - hello EC tax bill I bet you!!)

well for $35 + return shipping ($80-$100 dollars max?) its a no brainer, only problem is the downtime for the returned unit

Suppose its the problems you face whn buying fom a US company (im doing the same, buying a MSpnp, still worried about the downtime issues if i need to send it back)

hope all goes well for you

Thanks, I hope so too! I've got a new videovbox for the company
and some laps on a private Nordschleife tomorrow afternoon so we'll see how the chinese turbo install goes at full pace...
