So, kind of banging my head against the wall at the moment. Searched on here couldn't really find anything that doesn't lead me to my current conclusions already but i would like to post the situation and see if I am missing anything.
So did an oil change, only about 1 litre came out, pitch black, reeked of fuel. Figured leaky injector, thinned the oil and caused it to burn off or something along those lines
Did the change omitted the filter as I would only have to swap it over once i replace the injector and change the oil again.
So start the car up after the change and i have a misfire. Had to get to work so I drove on 3 cylinders... i know. So i took the plugs at work out one by one all fine, bar cylinder 1, plug drenched in oil.
Got a local garage to take a look, they swapped the plugs over after drying the oily one and did a compression test 150 on all 4 and managed to, in their words blow any excess oil out the cylinder. started up fine all four banging away.
Drove it in to work the rest of the week fine. come Thursday home time, misfiring again drove it home...i know. whilst driving it that week when it wasn't missing I could smell fuel on acceleration and it was strong.
I'm thinking leaky injector is worse than i thought, and has thinned the oil and its appearing in the cylinder. Although surely it would happen on all 4? as its definitely only missing on one..
i would like the thoughts of the forum on this one as if i replace the injectors, plugs, oil and oil filter and do a flood clear and it still misses I am gonna be stuck.
Appreciate any help or wise words in advance
PS any driving whilst it was miss firing was done under 3K revs, to the delight of the traffic following me.
