Mcdonalds Parking Fine Farce

I arrived home this evening to find this on my doorstep:

Two weeks ago I took the Roadster to Paul Sheards for a new clutch. The Mrs came along & followed in the truck just in case the car had to stay in overnight, but we decided to wait a while & headed off to McDonalds for what turned out to be a crappy breakfast.

It was just before 10:30 & had to argue the toss for a breakfast as they had stopped serving them - we then sat & drank coffee for a couple of hours & nobody in there batted an eyelid, so you can imagine how pissed off I am with this nonsense, besides it was a Friday morning & the car park was firkin empty!

Comments greatly appreciated

How much of a legal authority is BPA?

If it is one of those private companies you can usually scare them off with talks of financial ombudsman no?
So how do they handle kids parties.....are they exactly 1:15 mins long.....? Stuff like this makes me angry.

You can tell how annoyed I was at this......so I found this.

its nowt to do with macdonalds, its a private car park owned by that company. me myself wouldnt pay it.
I'd request a copy of the photographic evidence, You could claim you left the car park then returned 30 mins later and parked back in the same bay.

Do you know any local garages that could say you were broken down, awaiting recovery?

Mmm. IIRC, BPA is only membership organisation..bit like Corgi was. Looks to me the company who actually issued the fine was Parking Eye...the same bunch of Richard Turpins who do for airports + other big blue chip clients.
Hate to say it, but sometimes these things are best taken on the chin, but it would cost nowt I guess to send them one rocket..maybe say you felt ill or summat and could not drive? I like Adam's approach:rolleyes: As bad a paper "clamp" morally though IMHO. Barstewards.
I stand corrected, It Seems ignoring it is the way to go.

I got one of those for being in a b&q car park for a couple of hours. My reason being was that I had loads to get and sheets of MDF cut etc, so I told the parking company this and sent my receipt off to prove i was shopping there and that was the end of it. I'm guessing that you don't get mcdonalds receipts, try calling the parking company and explain the situation, woth a try.
Whatever you do dont pay it, and certainly dont communicate with them. See MoneySaving Expert website for mor information.

Derek
Good luck.

I dont think they can do anything if you ignore them. However I have no training or qualifications in this subject and can only quote hearsay from the internet

So worthless.

I got one of these any paid it. Wish i hadn't now
My advise is pay it and then invoice McDonalds UK headquarters and tell them you were eating and drinking there the whole time.
Just to clear things up, as long as I have a hole in my arse I have no intention of paying......there were in fact notices in the car park & on the entrance door to McD's warning of the time enforcement & it also clearly stated to inform the manager of any excessive parking while visiting McD's as he could allow the extra time - I did this but I think he decided to deliberately forget due to our argument over serving breakfast - wanker

Daz.........you live in Congleton - if you get 5 mins, drive around there & bung a brick through McD's window for me mate

That was so plainly written by a pikey moron trying to sound legal and scary.
These things are cleverly worded to look like a Penalty Charge Notice (a real PCN). In reality, this is just an invoice.

Wouldn't work, this one is franchisee owned. I used to work for the guy at one 5 miles away and I know one of the 'high up' managers in this one quite well.
your mazda isnt a toyota at all.

problem solved

Good luck with it. Unless its government/ council or the actual police I think you can just ignor them, from what Ive seen on the tv/internet etc.
I myself will do most things for an easy life and would probably pay it but thats were 99% of people go wrong!
Thanks for the support guys & for reinforcing what I was originally thinking
