Lazy Windscreen Wiper Motor?

My 1990 NA has just come out of storage for the summer and I'm checking things over pre MOT.

I noticed the windscreen wipers were leaving streaks and moving very slowly.

Got a new set of Bosch today and although they're better than the old ones, they're still quite slow and unless the windscreen is wet can slow right down and sometimes stick for a moment.

I've cleaned and lubed the linkages, but no real change.

Is it possible that the motor is losing power/strength to move the wipers? Never had this happen on a car before, but after 31 years....

Appreciate any advice.

The spindles rust and create drag..
I refurb mine but then there was slop in there so just replaced the linkages.
New ÂŁ115 or as i did buy replacement from respected mx5 breaker for ÂŁ20 and normal service resumed.
Not a bad job either hr max to swap linkage. [emoji16]

I found a guide on here about the linkages, so decided to strip it down and have a look

I popped the linkages off and the wiper arms are as smooth as butter, so I didnt strip them out completely. I took the motor apart (that was fun), put it together again (twice) and after running for a while they seem to have improved. I cleaned and filled all the ball joint links with new grease too. Hopefully it'll continue to work
