i have found a set of 4 new kyb adjustable shocks for 333quid
firstly is this a good price?
its the best i could find after scouring the interweb.
secondly i want the car to sit about 3o-35mm lower so my next question is which springs should i use?
i was thinking Eibach? only because i know very little and they are all ive heard of really

finally is anyone willling to fit or help me fit them in the hampshire area as i think its just out of my skill range (expansive though it may be)
and i dont want to pay another 220 ish quid for them to be fitted as it all become expensive.

cheers for all help in advance

I've had the suspension on and off my car a milion times and i'm in Winchester, Give me a shout if you would like some assistance (i've got spring compressors too)
Got mine from www.buypartsby.co.uk cost about ?275 delivered.
Do the teins work better than FMs? I m on eibachs at the mo and although they look great I find myself on the bumpstops quite a bit!
My dads 5 has KYBs and FM springs, my mate has KYB with the teins,(cos FMs were too hard to source).

The ride in both is fantastic, comfy yet controlled when pressing on. I'm a big fan!
what he said ^^^^^^^^^^ with pro bump stops cut down

I have these on stock springs, love em. Buypartsby.co.uk were the best price by far. Only needed to replace the front two at ?145 delivered!
Fitting was easier than doing my rear brakes!
Save your cash and buy proper coilovers.
<sigh>

It's a great setup, sure there's better out there, but not everyone wants 'the ultimate'.
jeom, i may well take you up on that offer nearer the time thank you.

thanks for all the comments its just what i needed.

what I need is a car that is lower purely for asthetic purposes about 35mm so i can live with it day to day. and suspension that i can firm up easily for the odd trackday. in these circumstances i do not NEED coilovers. and im sure if most people are honest they dont either. doing alot of road miles and they will corrode after a few years unless looked after very well which is time consuming.

how often do you really find yourself tinkering with infinite levels of adjustment? unless your one of the few that has a purely track based car id wager not that often.

i think people con themselves that they need, as someone else said 'the ultimate' and find themselves a few years down the line with a rusted non-adjustable set of coilovers, of which they maybe use 2 settings, one for raod and one for track.

im not having a rant really but im just realistic about my needs and want to have fun

thanks again for everyones advice

*wanders of to look at aformentioned springs*

ive just realised, buypartsby dont sell the adjustable set just the standard shocks. im after the kyb AGX shocks, 8 way adjustable jobbies.
sorry for the confusion. can anyone beat 333 quid for them?

I had a set of these mated to FM springs and NB top mounts on my NA. I really liked them over stock yes, but when I switched to a set of Tein coilovers the difference was marked. For the spend I think you can do better, the Koni sports will be better for example as will the standard Gaz coilovers.

At the end of the day it's your money - it would just make more sense doing it right first time round.

Good luck
i'm pretty sure i got my KYB AGX (8 way adj) from buypartsby but that was a few years back...
It looks like they sell AGX's, you'll probably just have to ring for a quote!

Yes they do, go to the home page and scroll right down to the bottom and there s a box on the left hand side!
cheers will ring them in a moment
check sutton auto factors. There the shop front of buypartsby and ofton have different prices. The shocks in question carried two prices when i was looking. About ?75 each on average.
buy parts by are coming up with 56quid a pop so roughly er 274 i think which is crazy cheap so i will ring them tomorrow and make sure we are thinking of the same thing (8way adjustable shocks). next nearst price was autolink with nutz discount which came in at 333quid all the rest are around 400.
