Insane 100Mph+ Drift By Julian Smith

Julian, owner of GardgeD is one of the top drivers and certainly one of the top builders of Drift cars in Europe.

As most know wim has been fortunate to work alongside GaradgeD over the last few years calibrating and perfecting new dynamics for the complex Drift arena, video's like this inspire pride and motivation, nevertheless nothing we do can input the skill and dame right nerve to this>

Note all other cars at this practice meet crashed.

Up the volume and enjoy.

Top school but willing to share....
looks like fun. someone should show pat how to do that

100mph+ sounds.......a touch optimistic from the video footage. (didn't have sound on but it looks slower from the video)

From personal experience, sideways at 100+ is fun, not been driving when it happened, passenger ride with my mate who competes at pro in BDC in his drift spec s14, theres a vid somewhere on youtube of him driving up a runway through the gears, hits 5th and flicks the wheel manji'ing up the straight. Absolutely nuts, I think Madda filmed that vid, he'll vouch for the speed. I have big respect for people that slide the back end at 100+!
Proven mph..... who cares! The skill and nerve at whatever speed is astounding, the cheeky flash of the headlights sums it all up methinks.
Transition a "2.10" is.... well?

That's not a proper drift car, he's not got a fuck-off big wing on the back of it.

Not a bad video though, he does certainly make it seem effortless, although I wonder how many takes it took to get it looking like that.

Car was well settled into a long drift when he flashed. I reckon he could have made a cup of tea...

Seemed like 60-70mph to me, as i'm not sure the standing water would have allowed much more. It may be just the camera making it look slower than it really is.

Good skills!

I kinda like drifting as a show, but not as a sport. I'd be happier seeing these guys do their thing between trees at higher speeds. But then, i'm just an old fashioned fuddy-duddy and not one of the cool kids, like you lot.

I've always thought drifters should have a go at rally driving.
So true about the trolley at the supermarket

One thing these cars don't need is down-force.... Most of the cars we calibrate for BDC, PD run a huge whales tail, this is to lift the smoke "better points".
No doubt a talented driver with bollox of steel, but i wasn't to impressed with the angle of drift though.
Granted it was wet and this was in the dry but still.........

A talented Drift does not win championships. Julian is reasonably well known in the series what with being a ex champion in BDC, a builder for Phil Morrison "DW" and a judge in BDC/PD, built the cars for Team Green who won the EDC team event by invitation in Portugal ( 99 points out of 100 ) three cars, best ever score in the history of team Drift.

Fact is it's a talented Drift, not as entertaining as the moon landing but it's free entertainment so who really cares.
Gixer you need to do some research on Julian before you comment on thread. I like a few have been out with MR Smith and he properly one of the best in the uk just cos he not you house hold name doesn't mean he's crap
.

and compare Kawabata Masato with uk drift is an utter joke. i dont think any one other then Kawabata Masato can do backward entrys like that.

Julian started of in rallying. im pretty sure he told me that

Another great Video from track day films

Seems the Mazda on track boys have got him at Silverstone so why doesn't Gixer come and show him how to get the angle ??

Just a idea

Now, now, if you want to have fisty cuffs, keep your helmets on. Yes it's an Al Clark, Trackday Films video and yes Julian will be the Drift part of the Silverstone day on the 16th along the other 4 in the top 5 slots HERE
Julian is one of the best full stop, not just the UK's. He's entering top of 4th gear in a 450bhp 5-speed car, it's around 108mph gps.

Gixxer? How you cannot be impressed with the angle of the entry on what is a road car in the wet, on a 3rd mile bend is staggering, he's 80 degree's on the first entry and your comparing it with a D1 car, in the dry, entering a small radius corner? Sorry, but you have much to learn about drifting.

As Nick says, come on the MOT day - you can come free of charge, absolutely seriously, and show us what the score is. With your open diff.

Hhhmmm...
