If you advance the base ignition timing past 14 deg BTDC to take advantage of the higher RON then the car will feel a little more lively at low engine speeds but will actually lose a few peak HP. 14 deg BTDC seems to be optimal for peak HP but you don't need Super Unleaded for this.Would running it on super unleaded increase its bhp too?
My Mk1 1600 made 118.5Bhp, that's with de-cat, cat-back exhaust, air filter, and 14degree timing. A little bit up on stock, but perhaps it had lost a few Bhp with the age of the engine?Many thanks for that list of results GaryR.
