Having A Fecking Nightmare With My Car.

Ever just wanted to roll your car off a cliff or set fire to it?

I spent over a month sorting my car out back in February, did loads of little jobs - was well chuffed to get it back on the road after not really driving it for a few months.

So I get it taxed, drive it a week and BAM, clutch gone on way to a Nutz meet. Fuck sake.

Spent about 16 hrs changing the clutch this weekend, was a fecking nightmare. Planned it properly, but it turned out my manifold is one piece not two like standard. So had to remove it from the head. Bolted all back up, after doing clutch - it was blowing. needed a new gasket. So still no car by Sunday, a week after clutch has gone. Manifold gasket arrived. Fitted over the course of the past two evenings in the freezing cold and pissing rain. Just started it. Fucking catalytic convertor has a big gaping hole in it. I have never been more frustrated. Its about 4 months since I've had a proper drive in my car and shit like this is really winding me up. I really cannot afford to buy a new cat. And I'm supposed to be leading a run out on Sunday. And Im working all week. and have to go on the fecking bus with all the morons. My work day is 2 hours longer thanks to the fantastic public transport system. and it raining and freezing.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It will get better mate it will.

Keep believing it and it WILL happen. I know the feeling and tbh had the same feeling MANY times with my car. But it does get better.
I have a cat off my 91 you can have - what year is yours?
Leeds. I know it will be sorted - I'm well capable of the job, its just soooo frustrating when you think you've finished, and you havent!

Im struggling a little to work my car out - its a very very early 1.8.

I ordered a downpipe-cat gasket for a 1.8 from autolink the other day, and its too long.

If I were to buy one of these - how loud is it, really? Consider that my car is already pretty damn loud - I have a very expensive (but unknown origin, possibly HKS) manifold (the cause of the original problem!), and the MX% parts single exit. If I add this, i fear its going to be obtrusively loud!

Loud..I have one. But, without being cheeky..perhaps not much more so than a shagged CAT?

Ha, your right. Theres no worries about me being able to do the job - its just I seem to have spent waaaay more time under the car than in it, since last autumn. and I'm just about sick of it!

I'm supposed to be leading some of you lot on a merry trip on Sunday morning, at this rate ill still be fixing the car till the moment we set off..
Yeah does take the edge off the fun factor... must be some bits laying around in peoples garages that could sort the problem and at a fraction of the cost of new stuff hopefully...
I know the feeling. I have been without my car for 2 weeks now. I am hoping to have a blitz this weekend and get sorted. Keep the faith and remember the good days. They will come again

I know your pain.... just before christmas Kaboom!! and the oil pump packs up, no car over christmas whilst it's being fixed, get it back in january, a couple of days later it cuts out and refuses to start again, been too busy with work to do anything with it and refuse to throw more money at it and take it to a garage so I have to wait till I have time to sort it myself.
I should finally have time to fiddle with it and hopefully fix it next week..... so that's only about 3 months I've been without my 5.

I've been having dark thoughts about selling the damn thing, but I've invested so much time (and money) into it that I can't bear to do it, and I remember the good ol' days when things were better

f*cks sake indeed!

Well yet another quality piece of kit from MX5parts. Like their cat-backs - I'm really impressed with the quality and value of these ownbrand pieces they do. Manufactured by ILmotorsports in Germany. And its the little touches that count, like being supplied with new gaskets and nice stainless steel hardware for both ends.

However I can't see this 'silenced bypass pipe' doing much silencing...!

I'm going to be expecting to be well up the Christmas card list for MX5parts and Autolink next year given how much stuff I've bought this winter!
However - both companies are a credit to themselves and I've had consistent, fantastic, prompt service from both, and always been kept up to date with any potential issues etc. So well donw to those two.

Nice looking part there! It could be worse though I lost my 5 to a cabbie that couldnt do corners
