Have been looking at this...

and thought how handy it would be to stop the water running off the hardtop and onto me when I have the window open to help clear the windows setting off 1st thing in the morning.

Anyone tried these before? how are they attached to the hardtop?

Why not just wipe the standing water off the roof before you get in?

It's much cheaper I promise you as those parts are very expensive for what they are.

I'm sure it'd be possible to buy something bendy and improvise a solution

You mean like the silicone wiper thingy I use to remove surface water after I've washed the car? Good idea

However, I always forget good ideas and then have a Homer Simpson "DOH!!!!!" moment as the water pours in through the open window

What I need is a failsafe device which will operate when my brain fails to do so

i need these in my life!
i just start driving and put my foot down or do some sharp sudden turns, it runs off i open the window.

it is annoying getting a lap full of water though
My hardtops ruber line are fucked, can get the windows adjusted right either, so on heavey rain with the car parked I get some drops in. Thats why I d love to have a set.

Why dont we make a list and ask Vidi to make a set for like 50 pounds?????

Subtle, real subtle!! Do I not get a say in what I make any more?

What the heck, looks easy enough and easy to improve as well... and I got a wet arse this morning, so I guess this is a go!!
It looks a bit odd not going to the ends of the Hardtop, so I think I'd continue it a bit further forward and down to the bottom to keep it looking nice?

I'd seriously look at Carbon as an option for this as well... although as I need to make two moulds for this, it may not work out as cheap as you'd think!! Most of the money in these is in the time involved making them, the actual raw materials are cheap in comparrison.

Other than that, it might take a little while to get this done as the Mk2 Spoiler is taking all my time at the moment, and we are messing about with ideas for wide arches too...

I think it'd be about a month before I could start on these but in the meantime, has anyone got any more pics, or any info on thow they attach? Could just use the tried & tested tigerseal, but I'm not sureit would be enough... could bolt or rivet it through, then tigerseal the edges but that would take away the option of removing it easily...

Russell.

^^^^i think they are just stuck on with say number plate stickers which are almost impossible to peel off or tiger seal i agree with th outer edge just stopping and needs to be carried on a bit
Pretty sure they are just glued on, it's only a small piece and won't weigh much so shouldn't need anything more to hold it, they'd need to be paintable though if you make an improved version, be nice to have a more sensibly priced solution

so has anybody actually tried these things out and can tell us if they do actually do the the job they're supposed to?
(before we go getting 1000's of the things made:lol:)
well tasty!
you could probably clamp tadpole beading under the window sealing rubbers easy enough. it was what i'd planned to try this winter but pat's had my hardtop allll winter

my softtop's weather proof though and doesn't drip....so i probably came off alright

i don't like the way those things look like a tacky add on
