As in title, had a go at tidying up one of my BBS wheels. Anyone that is familar with these alloys knows that the diamond cut rim is prone to corrosion, this one was quite bad but luckily no kerbing so easily restorable. Really pleased with the results, still needs a bit more elbow grease though
I just used different grades of sand paper, obviously starting coarse (P180) and getting finer (P400/600). Once I'm happy with the finish I will lacquer it (just the outer edge as the wheel centre still has the original matte finish). Comments welcome!

I finished using 600 as that was the finest paper I had. It's not finished but I spent a good couple of hours to get where I am with it, will tackle it again when I get a chance. Sounds like a good idea but would need more maintenence. How often would you have to top up the wax? I won't lacquer until I'm happy with the finish. Do you think T-cut before lacquer would be a good idea?

I've still got 2 more to do but this one was the worst by a long way.

Be careful in your choice of lacquer - look out for one that is specially designed to be applied to bare aluminium.
thanks for the tip, just ordered this on ebay:
