Check for rust, I don't have much experience with mk2.5s but I know my friends friend had one and it was attacked by rusty sills which you wouldnt generally think a car of that year would have. Very general comment though.
yeah will do...does the price seem about right ?

anytging else common to check
hmmm engine looked a bit tatty steering joint was pretty rusty too ...

2.5 owner here. Just under bonnet dirt? The suspension can look crummy but still be perfectly sound. The things to look at closely with the bonnet up are the metal power steering pipes. Prone to rot. In addition to previous advice also check internal boot seams. These were a warranty call-back issue as were the real cills and arches, as were the famed reversing clutch judder. Seen more rot free ones than bad 'uns though

Price wise..well..how much do you want one of the nicer Ltd Editions? A bit toppy methinks unless there is a hardtop? Lovely interiors though.

Your call!

Engine bay brackets always seem to rust on these for some reason. Soon sorted with hammerite though

I`d guess that`s a dealer price? Not too excessive if it has a hardtop though.

I paid less than that a year ago for a 2003 Sport (one owner 30K) so you should be able to do better IMO

BTW...You don`t pay the asking price as i`m sure you know. I knocked a grand of the price when i bought mine.

Good luck with the hunt.

Thanks for the advice, yeah i mean it didnt have a hardtop, i live near reigate (and folks are down bournemouth way) so those are the 2 main places im searcing within 60 miles of...

Anyone have any experience with the company "sporting cars" between crawley and brighton way they advertise as specialising in MX5's so wondered if anyone had any experience?

Im basically after a 1.8i MK2.5, below 50 (maybe60k) and well looked after.... i guess a fairly generic requirement
and am aiming to spend around a maximum of 7k.
