Check for rust, I don't have much experience with mk2.5s but I know my friends friend had one and it was attacked by rusty sills which you wouldnt generally think a car of that year would have. Very general comment though.
2.5 owner here. Just under bonnet dirt? The suspension can look crummy but still be perfectly sound. The things to look at closely with the bonnet up are the metal power steering pipes. Prone to rot. In addition to previous advice also check internal boot seams. These were a warranty call-back issue as were the real cills and arches, as were the famed reversing clutch judder. Seen more rot free ones than bad 'uns thoughhmmm engine looked a bit tatty steering joint was pretty rusty too ...
Engine bay brackets always seem to rust on these for some reason. Soon sorted with hammerite thoughall brackets etc looked rusted pretty badly...think will give it a miss![]()
