Can someone put me out my missery and tell me how do you get the lower rubber boot off the gear lever. I removed it from the gearbox and the little rubber is split so I need the metal plate off.

But on inspection there is no way to split the gear lever to allow the plate to come off. I have tried twiting it and looking for grub screws etc but no joy.

Anyone?

Yes but I cant see how it slides up as there is a big black rubber bit which will stop it.

Brute force and a bit of oil - it slides off.

You mean the rubber bit that is about 4" and goes all the way up to the threads?

I cant shift it. It looks molded to the shaft. As for the bit im trying to get off that wont fit over the rubber bit as the diameter is too large on the rubber.

Sorry for the delay. I managed to do it. It took a really big pull and lots of WD40 but it came off.

many thanks for such a prompt reply I managed to get it done just in time.
