Hi,

I have a 2002 1.8 Phoenix edition with phoenix matts, and they have a hole for supporting them but no hook! I really like them but they regularly shift up/bunch up towards the peddle and could be pretty dangerous. Is there an OEM part to prevent this?

There is, it's a clip lock type thing that as far as I know is moulded into the carpet just infront of the seat rails. Do you have a hole there where one once was?

I don't appear to have any kind of hole, thanks for the reply though!

I bought a set of genuine mats from mazda for my mk1 (listed as being for mk1, 2 and 2.5) and it came with the little plastic clip thing. Screwed it down to the floor just under the seat, they might be able to sell it as a spare part. Or treat yourself to some new mats?
Awesome, i'll take a look on mx5-parts and see what I can find. Cheers!

If you can't get the specific hook part, the circular velcro pads are good and would stop your mats sliding forward. There are types which are held in place with a screw or self-adhesive, or you can use a fabric glue - cheap and readily available from a multitude of online sellers.

All good, took a look today and I found the mounting holes for the hooks. They where much further back than expected!
