Emanage Ignition Help

346 Views 5 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Fluke
I finally managed to get the Emanage blue hooked up to my ECU and have a couple of problems. Firstly, it will only fire up if I remove the Emanage ignition harness. I originally cut ignition 1 and 2 on the harness and connected them as per the instructions, but it won?t fire up. The instructions say:

Ignition 1 - blue/white wire to ECU
blue/black wire to Sensor

Ignition 2 - Orange/white wire to ECU
Orange/black wire to Sensor

Am I missing something? Am I correct in saying that there are only 2 ignition points on the ECU harness? The second problem I have is that the car will start up and then immediately cut out, can anyone tell me what the problem might be? Everything is fine once I remove the Emanage.

BTW - my car is a 1997 Mk1 1.8.

If it starts and cuts immediately it is most likely a MAF connection issue (lack of it). If you have no plans to run larger injectors leave the MAF as stock (don't interupt) until you have everthing else proven. Use your MAF connection to log your wideband.

A lack of a MAF signal will allways allow your car to start but not run, If you have it connected correctly then make sure your emanage is set correctly.

Too many steps at once will invariably lead to problems that cannot be diagnosed simply.

Thanks mate.
I disconnect the wiring to the MAF and that allows the engine to run. I have larger injectors to go on so I take it I will need to run the MAF to the Emanage some how? Do you have any idea why I cant use the ignition harness? I will want to data log using my AEM wide band how do I connect this?

BTW - I had the Emanage pots set to 3-A-3 as per the instruction from a guy on here.

Apolagies if this sounds direct, get everthing working....understand it and then move forwards.

There are too many variables when things don't work. Get used to the interface, understand the logging and how to make adjustments then move on.

No apologies necessary, thats my plan.
I've disconnected my charger for now and wanted to run NA with the Emanage and wideband so that I can learn my way round the software and understand how it all works.

I still cant get the emanage to run with the MAF wire connected or it to run with the ignition harness wired in. I hooked my lap top up and made sure evrything was zero'd and that the main unit was updated. I am using version 1.49 of the software.

Does anyone have any idea of what else maybe wrong?
