Hi,

they both mount to the engine head, like on below photo. You should reuse the metal gaskets to have a good seal, just clean them a bit if necessary. In my opinion no additional sealant is necessary. The tube on the exhaust manifold needs to be plugged, unfortunately Mazda used so many different thread types during the years I am not able to provide the correct plug for everyone (nor is anyone else offering EGR kits).

O I see where you mean now. Last question, does the EGR valve have to be removed or can you leave it in place and blank just the narrower port? Will doing either throw a CEL?

More feedback on the Gates hose.

The routing of it is fine, it fits with the shape of the path it needs to take very well. However, the bulkhead end has a section that points down, when coupled with the Kia housing which also points down makes it extremely difficult to fit (it's taken me all week), even crouched barefoot on the cam cover it was impossible. I had to cut 5" off of it to remove this downward kink to it, which has left it a little shorter than I'd like at the front. For the hassle it's caused I would say the Gates hose isn't worth it, it's just too difficult, and it only just clears the OEM intake cross pipe by <1cm.

One thing I would also recommend is supporting the hose with a clamp after installation. (On the mk2 at least) there is a bracket which holds a vac line for either the carbon canister or EGR valve which is perfectly placed for adding a hose bracket.

The reroute kit itself is great, well made and fits comfortably. The 2 valve thermostat also fitted great for me with the weep hole only a few degrees off dead centre.

Hi,

thanks a lot for the feedback! As you suggests I will be adding a hose clamp for free into the kit to support the hose. It's a surprise to me that you had such difficulties with the Gates hose, so I agreed with a friend I will do a reroute in a month or so with the Gates - step by step and taking photos. Hopefully this will help others for the future to either decide on what hose to use or with the actual installation.

The routing is fine, it's just actually getting the hose on the housing, access is limited and personally I really struggled. Once it's on it does fit really well.

hi guys, im running the gates hose aswell but it seems to get harder than the other coolant hoses when the car is hot. how much pressure should be in this hose? it gets pretty hard but the pressure goes as it cools, have bled it loads so all the air shud be out?

Interesting, mines bled now and I didn't notice it was any harder? Your thermostat is opening Yeh?

yep thermostat is a new genuine item fitted with the reroute and new waterpump also, was jus wondering how much pressure is too much in this hose? but i suppose if it was too high it would just vent through the rad cap? probably worried over nothing just thought id check :)

Don't worry, the hose can withstand much higher pressure then your rad cap would allow (which is rated for 0,9 bar if I'm not mistaken). Unless your system is seriously overheated (which I'm sure you'd notice) the pressure should be just fine.

I search during a long time for sillicon hoses to adapt this reroute to my 1.8 mk1.
Finally find something interesring from hummer h2 6.0 engine.
Does any one know about this?
Still searching silicone hoses so if you found one with good fitment let me know.
