General info:
Parts have been professionally machined from aircraft-grade aluminium alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. More info about reroute purpose can be found here: http://coolant-reroute.com/ and in this topic: https://www.mx5nutz.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89997

Few hints and tips:
- installation requires you to move the charcoal canister a few centimetres aside, or you can remove it altogether - the removal is very easy and there are many guides available online

- in case you have EGR system on your car, you will need to delete the EGR (I have the blanking kit for ÂŁ15) or modify the EGR pipe
- install the thermostat with weep hole facing the top (upwards)
- for VVT engines (Sportive) use a non-VVT head gasket
- don't delete the heater core as it's wise to keep the coolant flowing, unless it's a track car

Basic kit - ÂŁ89

A.) For engines with fan switch in front of the engine (1.6 NA - http://diy.icydesigns.com/i/368-p2.jpg)
B.) For engines without fan switch in front of the engine (all except 1.6 NA)
C.) WIth core plug (regardless of the engine), if you want to freeze plug the outlet - parts needed are included

Spacer options (included in the price):
1.) Standard (stock heater, stock gauge)

2.) Standard with 1/8" NPT thread for additonal temperature gauge

3.) Heater delete (no coolant outlet for heater hose) and 1/8" NPT thread

Hose: Gates 22436 rubber hose for ÂŁ29 or you can design your own hose connection (e.g. if you want silicone hoses).

Housing: you can use a 1.6 NA housing or get housing from me - used for ÂŁ15 or new Kia for ÂŁ22 (1.8 NA/NB and 1.6 NB housings cannot be used).

Thermostat: you can keep yours or replace with a high flow stainless steel thermostat for £12, either 88°C (OEM) or 82°C

Prices include delivery to virtually anywhere. Payment via Faster payments, BACS, Paypal, Transferwise or SEPA transfer in EUR. Please note it does not include fees (in case of Paypal). Delivery usually takes 4-6 working days (UK and EU).

How to order: PM me with the kit you want and I will send you payment details.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Sure it is possible, simply drill and tap another hole... Any decent machine shop should do it for a few pounds. The fan switch is bigger than temperature sensor, so you need to check how and where to drill because of thermostat. Spacer is thick and strong enough to accommodate at least four more holes with diameter up to 22 mm :)

murfeey: you need the A option and plug the G 1/2" hole or I can make you one on request without the hole and hose adapter in next batch. Spacer without hose outlet will be £5 / €6 cheaper and next batch should be ready within two weeks if you're interested.

Gaskets will be here tomorrow. Plugs for thermostat housing will take a few more days I guess -_-

In the meantime some photos from rerouting on my car:

Installing the spacer... As the brass plugs are not yet available I plugged the hole in thermostat housing with M16x1.5 sump plug and used some thick paper / cardboard as a gasket.

Installing blanking plate in the front of the engine (NA 1.6 with fan switch sensor)

And finally the piping is done (you can see both Gates and custom hose fitment).

About thermostat housing: if you have 1.6 NA, than you can swap thermostat housing from your car, if you have 1.8 NA/NB or 1.6 NB, then you need to source thermostat housing from 1.6 NA as from your car might not fit well with coils. It is possible to fit it, but you need to raise the coil pack by 2 cm or so. Other that that it's a pretty simple job of connecting the hoses and that's it.

Whisper,

When you say thermostat housing from a 1.6, you mean the cover bit, not the bit that attaches to the engine right? I'm assuming the blanking plate attaches to front of the 1.8 like it does the 1.6, just at a different angle. The 1.6 cover has the pipe exiting the at a slightly different height to the 1.8 i think.

Anyone able to clarify?

Cheers,

W.

Thermostat housing from 1.8 - cannot be used without further "mounting place surroundings" modifications (raising the coils up a bit etc.):

Thermostat housing from 1.6 - can be fitted after plugging the hole:

You need to source the bottom one (Mazda B61P-15-172, NM00632; or similar without the hole - KIA 0K247-15172A) if you have a 1.8 NA/NB or 1.6 NB engine (in other words, if you're buying 'B' kit). I don't include these in my kit as not everyone needs them and you can buy it easily from autolink under ÂŁ20 or any scrapyard for far less I guess. The cover I provide is on the photo at the beginning of this topic and it plugs the hole after removing the housing from the front of the engine.

:thumb-up: found one on ebay for ÂŁ10.45 delivered, bargain!

Wanted to make sure i had the right part before ordering.

Question 2; i don't need the feed for the heater matrix, can i get a spacer without the hole for that? no worries if thats too much hassle, i'm guessing its easy enough to plug (plus it leaves the option to use on another car with heating installed later!)

and question 3, where do people get their silicone hose from? i can't find the Gates part online anywhere...

CHEERS!

It would be much easier for me if you could plug the hole :) It's a BSP 1/2" thread (parallel, but AFAIK it does not matter for a plug).

I used normal coolant hoses, not silicone ones... But I think you can find some info here and in older group buys: #1, #2 and #3.

Yeah, nice one dude, been trawling through those threads, but my eyes are hurting now!!!

I'm actually gonna get an ally pipe like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170703944371?var=470042247808 pretty cheap considering the length

just need to put my engine back together to figure out how long and how many other elbows and connectors are required!!

Put me down for option B for the spacer kit for the next delivery!!

Cheers!

The kit is not yet installed, but I bought/ordered these parts:

=> Thermostat cover / "water neck"
http://revlimiter.net/blog/2011/05/coolant-re-route-1/
'97 Kia Sephia. Part number 0K24715172A.
Bought at the local KIA dealer: 20.80 EUR

=> Hose (Upper Radiator Hose for a 2002-2005 Cadillac Escalade)
Dayco 71989 Upper Radiator Hose

From here:

Or here:
http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/_/N-5yc1s?itemIdentifier=353998
AutoZone Part Number: E71989
Alternate Part Number: XL-1215

This is how it looks laid out (and the source of this idea):

I think this hose ist the best solution, because you don't need all these extra cuts and hose clamps.
