I would say 1000's of teens across the UK like the idea of getting a project car and knowing the basics of how to keep it ticking, from the basics to more advanced skills i.e spraying and small mechanics. could have groups from 10-15 all ages or am I just day dreaming ?

if your point is it would end up with a bunch of chavs then your most probs correct but if you did this with children ages between 14-16 who had been permanently excluded the government pays up to £90 per day per child.

Bad jokes aside

What you're describing is more suited to a social enterprise rather than private business. The govt probably wouldn't approve paying into your scheme if it's for-profit and the 3rd sector isn't.

Might be worth approaching the Local Education Authority the major stumbling blocks would be things the H&S - risk aversion
permeates the UK like cancer addtional things like CRB checks will be insisted upon and premises assessment. if a college buys into
it well and good but otherwise I fear it is an uphill climb.

No, the complete lack of a coherent idea, any revenue stream or sense of how to accomplish any of it do that.

There are plenty of schemes like this already operating.
Indeed. My local college does a variety of diplomas in vehicle maintenance etc. and I assume that any similarly sized education establishment would do too.

It's a nice idea in theory but in practice, there are already facilities to make it happen.

Dont worry - this topic and all the posts yesterday were just an attempt to get to 25 posts for obvious reasons.

Maybe workshop was streching it a bit to far as there are to many specialised provisons for these trade sectors...i will just stick to maths, science, english, btec sport and PWL. Many people on the forum work in education ?
