I've got about ?50 to spend on a set of components to go in my doors.

Any idea which ones I should go for / avoid?

Have you got a link? I'm in the same boat. Plus I cant fit any more wires through my doors because of central locking so just gonna plug them into stock wiring. Should be fine for budget speakers.

Without a shadow of a doubt, for ?50 I would go for Vibe SEK60.
I've got them in my Corsa and I'm very impressed with them, but I paid ?100 when they first came out

I fitted the slightly smaller version ( SEK50) in my friends KA and they sound awesome too.

sorry to hijack this but would they go straight in the door to replace? Think the old ones are 6x8?

MK1's are 6.5", I'm not sure what size other MX's have.

I'm sure you could get adaptors if the originals are 6x8

I've just checked and you are right, they are 6x8.

You can easily get adaptors to convert to 13cm speakers and I'm sure with a little more searching you could find 6.5".

Or buy the 13cm adaptors and just make the hole bigger yourself

Mark 1 speakers are 6.5" or 5.25". But the hole is 6.5"

You need to drill holes to fit most properly tbh but it isn't hard.
