ello all, been a while!

back in the UK and i decided it was time to get another 5. so i did - today!

did rather well, bought a 1999 V registered UK mk2 in silver with black leather interior for only ?2000

needs a few bits and pieces done, could do with a new roof (even though its water tight its got a couple of small rips which have been taped up) and a few bits on the body need sorting, but mechanically it appears to be sound, drove it from sandhurst to north london without a hitch. only item that threw a slight spanner in the works was the cooling didnt appear to be quite right. recently had a new thermostat but temp was climbing whilst in traffic. The cooling fan wasnt kicking in so it could be either one of a few things:

fan switch
temp sender unit
cooling fan motor.

none of which are major items and managed to control the temperature by switching off to let it cool down twice and keeping speed up to a decent pace so airflow was consistent.

bonus items though include the fact it has near enough new tyres all round (only a thousand miles on them) as well as near enough new brakes all the way round as well (new discs front and rear as well as pads which have only done a couple of thousand miles) leather is in extremely good nick and even though its a relatively high miler at a touch over 100K, the engine purrs like a cat with no knocks, rattles or obscure sounds. Also has a half decent Alpine MP3 cd player, Nardi wheel electric windows and mirrors.

best thing for me was being back in a 5 after two and half years, i always remembered i loved my mk1 and it handled well but until i got behind the wheel of this one, i almost forgot how much fun these cars are! was grinning like a prize idiot for the first hour of the drive back (with the roof down of course!!
) and took two detours just to prolong the drive!

anyhoo - enough rambling, on to the pics.

will get some more pics when its all sorted out and stuff. let the modding begin.

Welcome back! good to see you in a 5 again!
Welcome back. Glad to see you saw the light and got another 5.

Now why couldn't my Mk2 have come with the Nardi steering wheel.
Lee - you 5 addict you!!! lol!!

its good to be back chap

dinky - the nardi might be out if i decide to do some work on the interior, if it is then i will let you know

to be honest whilst i like the fact the seats are leather, i would prefer the Eunos leather seats so the interior might end up looking completely different by the time i am done with it.

Thanks all!

Mark, dubai was incredible but after two years I was ready to move on anyway. I wish it were under better circumstances though. My father passed on 3 months ago so I have returned to UK to take care of my family.
