Annoying Rattles...

So i've got a rattle, and i can't find it.

Sounds like it's coming from the back left. Can't make it rattle when car isn't driving - only seems to make noise when going over bumps. (I've tried bouncing the suspension when not moving, and no noise).

So perhaps an odd question... does anybody elses fuel cap rattle when its off the car? Mine sounds like a marble in a beaker.. i'm thinking it could be that, but i don't really want to go for a bumpy drive without a fuel cap on!

They do rattle when they are off because of the tigtening mechanism inside! Your rattle could be coming from the boot lifting mechanism!

Right, its not the petrol cap, nor anything in the boot, no the locking mechanism.

Pretty sure its not the ariel as i can't make that make any noise at all.

Next to test is the rear fog light, is a bit loose so i'll check that when it gets light tomorrow

Is it a clunky rattle, worn antirollbar droplinks?

If you look under the back of the car you will see the anti roll bar and the drop links that attach it to the wishbones! Get the car on axl stands and take a good look for wear, give it a good pull around for any slackness or clunking. I'd also give the wheel a good pull and check for any clunking.

Antirollbar bar bushes are fairly cheap and easy enough to change if it is your problem!

Another thought is if the spring clips are missing on your rear pads they could be rattling about in the caliper! Good luck!

Ok went under the car and had a look - can't find anything that seems clunky/loose suspension wise, but i'm far from adept at this stuff so i took a few pictures, does everything look roughly as it should? (I know its rusty and crap looking, but new coilovers will be on the way as soon as funds permit

Brakes wise, am i missing anything? The pad moved a little bit, but i'm not sure enough to make the rattle i'm hearing?

It does look like the spring clips are missing, can't guarantee it's the rattle your seeking!
