Hi there I sold my 1.6 turbo setup to build something alittle more different.
The car is a 1992 limited s model Eunos with some mods.

TR lane rollbar
Lotus elise seats
15x8 wheels
1.8 brakes all around
2.5 inch stainless exhaust with longlife backbox.
3.6 lsd diff 1.8 which I made custom braces for the rear subframe.

Engine wise it went well with the 1.6 turbo but new spec is

4.0 litre 1uz out of a toyota soarer JDM spec. (Not confirmed but it's around 280hp the internet says)
BMW ZF gearbox out of a 328 E36
M5 Sachs clutch out of a 3.6litre E34
Gearbox adaptor and flywheel is from Driftmoto Nev.
Sump is a rear setup from Driftmoto but he currently has that as the previous one was to tall.

Mods to get the engine in are, cut corners of bulkhead back and reweld
Cut the middle out of the subframe for sump to clear, seam welded back up.
custom anti role bar mounts to lower existing role bar.
Mount the mazda diff beam to the floor.
Mount a E36 clutch master cylinder to the pedal for a stock clutch feel and free up the engine bay.

Some pics showing some mods and the Mazda gearbox next to the Bmw one. Note they weight almost the same and the BMW gearbox is good for 600hp (Internet says) plus the bonus of a remote gearchange!

That is some proper Frankensteining going on. Look forward to see this come together!
Cheers mate. Currently the project is on hold until I get the sump back from Driftmoto. I've been waitng 3 weeks now but will hopefully have it before the weekend :)

Thanks for the replys. No twin turbos unfortunately but I think a super charger would fit ontop ok.

It is a super strong engine. I believe this and the 2jz are the strongest stock engines you can get from factory. I just fitted the modded oil pickup for the rear sump and the main caps are 6 bolts which is crazy. But it actually is light. Nev at Driftmoto said he has got one down to 170kg with engine and the BMW gearbox complete. But you have to run after market ecu to lose the heavy ignition system which weights alot.

the stock engine is around 130kg, for reference. not sure on the box though. should be able to tell by simply picking them up :D
It was exactly the same as the Mx5 gearbox picking them up. Not accurate but near enough!

I would be careful about weights unless you see a picture of said complete engine on a scale. 170kg = 30kg lighter then a F20C with gearbox, despite having double the amount of exhaust manifolds, plugs, intake runners, pistons, rods, valves, 6 bolt mains etc.

The one complete setup I saw ready to plug into a car ended up weighing 260kg (w58 gearbox = 40kg).

That's a nice 5 in the video, shame about the weather thou. There's a write up and pictures of that v8 car here www.drivingenthusiast.net/sec-blog/?tag=engine-swap

I'm only quoting what I was told about the weight. I know that engine was bear minimum with ITBs and race altenator etc. But it is meant to be lighter and more compact than the Rover V8 but again I'm only quoting what I've read on the Internet there.
But moving the engine around In my garage it's not to dissimilar to the 1.6 engine I removed.
I'm hoping the car tops the scales at exactly a tonne and no more. But we will have to see

I'm going to have to mod the drivers side header to clear the steering shaft. Is very close to fitting.

Doesn't seem much of a update but I've had to go to town on the exhaust manifold to clear the steering shaft! I didn't want to have to remove the shaft to remove the engine. So I've ended up with this. Isn't finished obviously, but it gives me plenty of space and clearance.
