hi all, been chasing this issue for a long time now. My car struggles to start then maintain idle. I have attached a video to show what happens. Has anyone else ever come across this situation before? Thanks

What's that vapour that appears below the crossover tube? Is the engine hot enough at that point for it to be leaking coolant that's emerging as steam? If the engine is cold I might assume its smoke from a rubbing belt - maybe the water pump (or alternator) is seized or at least really hard to turn and the belt is slipping?

I might experiment with removing the accessory belts just see if it starts right up. (Obviously don't leave it running like that as the water pump will not be turning.)

Hi Martin,

It’s coolant coming out of the thermostat housing just vaporising. The rad and coolant lines are disconnected etc. engine doesn’t get hot as it won’t run for long enough due to it just dying

I assume giving it a little bit of throttle doesn't keep it running?
If not, I wonder if it's not getting enough fuel. Might be a fuel pump issue, or clogged fuel filter or sieve sock in the tank, or pressure regulator not holding rail pressure. Just thinking out loud. Not sure which is easiest to test.
