So I decided to buy my 1st Mx5 which i paid £520 for then I decided to drive it for 1.9k miles to see my friends in Estonia and do some snow skids. Car will be staying there with my teammates from "Drift Factory" as we plan on building the car up bit by bit and compete in some events.
Here is a...
Got aMk2.5 not long ago, drove it over 2k miles over to Estonia never skipped a beat the car is super fun and cool to drive! I heard that this is the BEST forum for MX5's so be ready for lots of questions and pictures!
Anyway my Name is Raf I am 23 years old and currently Live in UK.
I have this exact roll cage sitting in a heated garage for the last two years. I decided that I only required a rear roll bar. That this was much more than what I needed.
I've test fitted it in the...
Since I'm eventually making some progress with the project, I suppose it's time to make a build thread!
So, the first 5 was this:
It was a 1.8 1996 UK Mk1.
But, after doing a couple bits to it, I finally realised just how critical the rust was. And with quotes of £1300-£1800 to get it...
Hi everyone, thought I'd start a build thread for my Mk1.
So, I've got a 1.8 MX5, a 1996 reg. Bought back around August 2016, but only properly been working on it for the last 3 months or so. The previous owner, for whatever reason, called him 'Yoshi', so it's kind of stuck with him :paperbag...
Thought I'd introduce myself
I'm Jake, 19 from Liverpool, and recently (ish) got myself a 1996 MK1 MX5.
Thought I'd say hi, as I'll probably be askng a fair few questions here!
Been around cars all my life, but I'm new to Mazda's!
Here he is at the minute...
Hi guys, Thought I'd finally stop slacking and make a thread on my car as alot has happened since I've bought her and still have some plans for her.
It's a '92 1.6 S Special Import. It's a bit rough round the edges but it's a drift car so whatever really.. Though it is my daily so what it lacks...
My brother and his friend are hiring the track at Driftland (Lochgelly, Scotland) and is looking for others who'd like to come and join him to keep costs down.
Unsure of the cost atm, will depend on numbers of people and how long the track is booked for.
I can't make it this time, but I've...
So this is my first MX5, and the plan is to turn it into a track / drift project.
It is a 1998 Mk.2 1.8.
Decent service history, nothing mechanically wrong, yes the roof has a few small holes but for the price I couldn't complain.
Only owning it about a week, I have already...
Has anyone been watching the current Formula Drift Championship?
I've watched it from the start this season after seeing a lot of the car builds being featured on Speed Hunters in the build up to it.
I'm not a fan of F1, which seems to dominate the choice of racing among my friends and work...
bit of advise/feedback if you have experience with this.
I am running a 1.8 Torsen type 1 diff with the shafts and prop in my 1991 1.6 turbo. Just taken the car for a battering round Silverstone and thinking of maybe trying a KAAZ 1.5 way diff.
So my clutch gave up yesterday. So I'm wondering if there is a better option than the OEM for drifting. I'm still running standard power but going to FI in a year or 2. My initial though was a paddle that the FI guys use as it'll take more abuse.
Not sure where to start,
I know there's a lot on here that drifting isn't their thing, me personally, I love these cars, that's why iv chosen one for drifting. I already had a 90' NA6 import I briefly drifted. Having just sold my 350z;
Anyway, story goes, a couple weeks back, Monday morning...
So after leaving mx5 ownership due needing a diesel for work, I've now moved closer to work so decided to buy another. So back in around December 2013 i visited a Mx5 specialist local to me and bought a 2002 1.8 with heated leather seats, 6 speed with around 60k miles. Here is a...
Afternoon guys, i'm currently uploading my Gatebil photos in a timeline/story blog style on my new media page, to save clogging up the Rainbow Alliance page.
I thought those that haven't been before would be interested, as it pretty much sums up the event i think!
I have plenty more to upload...
We'll start with my old car. A UK car, 1.8is and mostly standard. Fitted a welded diff as the plan was to go drifting. Cost me £550 and was on 173k miles. One winter on it and the rust had taken over and needed to be replaced.
After I discovering how bad the rust was, I set about...
