Right, so I bought the car back in March this year for £1200, with a years MOT, 5 months tax and a hard top.

it's a 98 plate 1.8. Didn't come with hardly any paperwork, so took it for a service straight away.

Love this pic of it ^^ - thanks mum :)

When I got it it had four different brand tyres on o_O - so these were swapped for a set of Toyo Proxes within a week of ownership.

Then put a K&N cone filter on, and purchased an MX5Parts Dual Exit from Taffylude on here.

DSC_0656_zpsccabbe3b.jpg

(Sorry for potato quality!)

Obviously it was used, so out came the Autosol for two hours, and it came out quite well:

I strapped it into the passenger seat and went to the MX5Restorer to get it fitted. After lots of hard work Garath managed to seperate the old box from the mid-pipe, and then made a perfect cut-out for the dual:

After fitting:

DSC_0714_zpsd56b7f5e.jpg

DSC_0716_zpsefd030be.jpg

The crack in the bumper was there when I got it, I swear :)

It sounds great, not too intrusive on the morning commute, but really sounds great when you hit higher RPM's. Also it likes to pop every now and then when letting off the throttle, which is cool.

So everything is pretty good so far, but I always knew a bit of work would need doing.

Before the next MOT it's going to need:

Passenger sill - this has been patched before, and it looks awful, some real monkey welder has gone at it.
ABS Sensor - the light is now on permanently.
Cambelt - No records of this being done.
Rocker cover gasket - tiny bit of oil round the edges

So all in all it's a great car, pulls really well, and has been great fun through the summer! Needs some money putting in to keep it going, but can't complain considering the money I paid for the car.

Considering selling the hardtop to fund the sill repair at some point, if anyone is interested.

Thanks, I think so too, it looks just how I wanted.

Yeah thanks for the advice on the rust, I had it inspected by MX5Restorer just after I got it and he said there was a little bit of surface rust on the chassis rails, but nothing bad. The passenger sill however needs a proper repair, which it will get this autumn/winter.

Cjay89 - definitely look out for one, though I haven't seen many around at all. They're great quality though, other than the support bracket pieces on either side of the main box which might need welding if it's used. Other than that the quality seems very good.

RyanT I am curious what you said, but I won't ask haha.

So my ABS light went out today for the first time in three months :) and the ABS appears to be working properly :) (will go out and test properly later)

So I'm thinking it's a loose connection somewhere, going to check the ABS ECU. Pretty happy, should hopefully save me some money!

Yeah thanks, I commented on that thread. It has come on and gone off in the last two days a little. But the diagnostic brought up no fault codes when the light was constantly on so I'm going to try and track some kind of loose connection, other than that I guess the ABS ECU itself is just on the blink.

MOT in March so no real rush, could just take the dash ABS bulb out lol.

Right the car is booked in for sill repair, cambelt, water pump (and a cam cover gasket while they're at it) at MX5Restorer later this month.

Got a new (used) cam cover to go on too, sprayed by myself and my dad (he did the colour coat and lacquer, I just did the primer lol). Here it is:

DSC_0856_zps3cb02616.jpg

Should look good on the car. The sill needs doing quite badly, don't think it'd fair the winter too well if it wasn't done!
