Hi all,

I am putting an UK NB engine into a Triumph Spitfire (it seemed a good idea at the start..)

I have a standard ECU, main wiring loom, engine wiring loom and charging loom. (ECU has matching ignition barrel, key and immobiliser)

Starter gets the main power feed but not the signal feed on turn of the key (and it can be turned and engaged by wiring direct to the ignition feed)

I traced this connector- link below (close to the immobiliser unit, 2 white 2 white/ black wires going into it) which has gets power on turning to start.

Does anyone have any idea what this should be connected to? (or if its a red herring!) I've  Haynes manual on the way as the only wiring diagrams I could find were US spec.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Cheers,

David

do they have a clutch-pedal interlock system (pedal needs to be pressed to engage the startermotor)

Cheers all- that link is great and I got my Haynes manual through as well!

Haynes suggests that the wires go to a relay, but I have never seen a relay with that pattern! (I need this lockdown over so my mechanic mate can come help me with this :-) )

trace the wires, if one pair are an interruption of the startermotor activator then thats your answer

^^ related...

if thats the case, the other pair would feed to the ecu (cutting power while clutch depressed - a safety feature.............) or cruise module (if fitted OR if an option?? )

Cruise is a good shout. A quick search threw this up (I could have just checked my car but I tucked all the wiring away )

Thanks all for the responses, most helpful.

I think there is a relay that is missing (and i have found a relay that will fit the unusual relay pattern! I have ordered the 2 different relays with that pattern to give them a go!

Will update when they come it. wiring from here goes to the immobiliser and starter so i am hopefully on the right track!

So it was a missing relay! Got one through today and it now turns over on the key. Not yet running but certainly a step closer! Thanks again all.
